“A pleasant walk in history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Found this by accident whilst leaving the Trans-Canadian Highway for somewhere to stop.

And what a bonus it provided to be. As with many historic Canadian sites the location is well cared for and provides something for everything. During our visit there were several couples, and at least one family. All are well catered for with the site being large enough not to get in each others way.

It provides a great introduction into the reason for Victoria's establishment and how it was subsequently protected.

“History was great but the smell by the lighthouse induced a vomiting reaction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Never knew this was here until my brother came out for a visit with his family. Great spot for kids to explore and learn some cool history of Victoria. Creepy in some of the buildings, would be cool to explore again with the children around.

The smell down by the beach was absolutely disgusting. It got worse and worse the more you walked. Soooo gross, it needs to be fixed

“Lighthouse, History, Fort and Coastal Scenery - A Great Combo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

I did not expect much here except to get out of my car and take a few shots of the Strait of Juan de Fuca with a historic lighthouse in the foreground. I paid a small fee to enter the park and got much more. This strategic region was a fort to defend English and American land through multiple conflicts. The old cannons, torpedos, structures and boathouse kept me wide-eyed. This is not a smooth trail and there are many stairs, but you have to go as far as you can to explore the Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse remains.

We had never heard of this place but it is well worth the visit! Does require walking on uneven ground.

“History & Scenic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

By itself, the view from this historic site is stunning as you look out across Juan deFuca Strait to the Olympic Peninsula. Add watching the merchant ships, a picturesque light house, and the well interpreted history of the site from early days until the 1950's, and you have something for everyone. As mentioned, a great place for kids to run and explore
