Thanks to the info provided by this webpage, I can tell all of you the great experience my family and I had last week in this beautiful hotel, 100% recommended for families and couples (no TV in rooms so you have plenty of time to talk to your children and/or your fiancè. Rooms are WOOOOWWWW, so elegant, so fine. Breakfast is soooo yummy. Great swimming pool, BBQ available, cozy atmosphere...and if you love pets...you can choose to spend time with one of Charlotte's fine pets...izzy, Angela, Elizabeth, Guapa and...oops I forgot the name of one of the horses + 5 hens (no rooster to wake you up in the mornings). I miss you all! My husband and my children feel so sorry to leave your house, just yesterday night Raulito Jr said he doesn't want to sleep here in Madrid, he said "I want to go to Izzy's house"...one day we will go back, for sure. Liliana, Raul, Almudena and Raulito.

What a wonderful Quinta that Tony,Penny and Charlotte have restored.
My wife and I had a short stay at the Quinta and the only thing that we wished for was more time to enjoy it even more than we did.
Every thing was perfect from the initial welcome, the suites, the pool and the horses.
I can truly recommend Quinta do Scoto.

We stayed with Tony, Penny and Charlotte for a week during May.
What lovely people and accomodation. We have a wheelchair which was broken by baggage handlers on our outward bound journey but nothing fazed Tony he just took it in his workshop while we chilled out and fixed up a neat repair which got us through the rest of the holiday - what a star.
The suite was great and furnished to a really high standard by far the biggest room we have ever stayed in. Wheelchair access was good but the bathroom is not a full on disabled suite i.e. low access shower rather than wetroom.
This was manageable for us though and ok as Tony and penny where very honest about the levels of adaptations in the Quinta before we booked.
I would say only severley disabled unassisted guests would need to think if more adaptations might be required for their individual needs.
We hired a car and this was a good move with the wheelchair, a car takes you into Sintra within 15 minutes which is nice for dining and sightseeing.
Trains are very good for the able bodied though and the station is handy if you don't have a wheelchair.
Tony and Penny kindly did a lot of research for us pre trip into the possibility of using the trains and it seems the Portuguese rail system is not geared up for wheelchairs so a car is essential unless you intend to hang around the pool - which is lovely.
One day we drove to Lisbon to the Parcs National Oceanarium which is great and went on the cable cars which have an accesible car for whelchairs, there are nice places to eat here too.
The coast is spectacular and there are some great drives in the hills overlooking the sea.
The family made us really welcome and we even had a BBQ with Tony, Penny and Charlotte one evening.
We would recomend this place particularly if you like something off the beaten track with a sense of history and somthing a little different with really lovely hosts - Thanks again guys!

The setting is idyllic, the peace of the coutryside sets the mood and Tony, Penny and Charlotte provide all the warmth and enjoyment of hosts who really love what they do :- namely making people feel comfortable and cared for. The rooms are enormous by European standards and it was wonderful to be welcomed by a bottle of wine and a fruit basket and an invitation to a night out with other guests the next evening. Part of the fun was swapping stories with other guests over the leisurely breakfast and dinners out. Nothing was too much trouble for Tony and Penny and they provided invaluable tips on our travels to Sintra and Lisbon (including a lift to the station), we'll definitely be back!!

What an terrific opportunity to experience both carefully renovated property that is over 260 years old and a family of 3 who are incredibly hospitable and helpful.
We recently stayed 4 nights with Penny, Tony, and Charlotte at their Quinta near Sintra, Portugal. Although actually located in the small village of Melecas, it is a short 10 minute drive to Sintra on excellent and easy highway. You can also take rail if you do not have a car. The train into Lisbon is also handy and quick. Parking in both Lisbon and Sintra is extremely difficult and this lodging eliminates that problem while providing a quiet and charming stay in the lovely countryside. There are good restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are without a doubt the largest we have ever experienced in a B & B. Breakfast is marvelous. The swimming pool is large and appealing, although it was too cold for swimming when we were there mid-May. There is an outdoor bar-b-que with dishes, 7 acres of property to enjoy, and hosts who are helpful beyond expectation. The room comes complimentary with a stocked mini-frig, a bottle of wine, and a basket of fruit. There is more than ample parking and Tony's directions everywhere are excellent. This an experience not to be missed, a taste of home away from home in a location so historical and delightful you will not want to leave.

Having viewed this 250 year old property before the present owners renovated and converted what was nearly a derelict series of buildings we were amazed to find what now is a completely beautiful B&B in true Portuguese style. The interior accomodation is spacious and first class, the grounds and pool an added attraction on top of which you have a couple who together with their daughter put their full efforts into making your welcome and stay the best you could ever expect.

I originally wanted accomodation in Sintra but with 4 people (2 adults, 2 young children) I was unable to find something spacious enough at a certain standard without spending a fortune. Luckily I spotted the reviews for this wonderful quinta which is a reasonable distance from Sintra. With our limited mobility we rented a car and could easily make it to Sintra in about 15 minutes. We also drove to the coast in around 30 minutes.

Staying at the Quinta was a great choice. While we had to drive into Sintra for meals (vegetarian options are quite limited out of cities) the space and hospitality that the Quinta afforded more than made up for this. We stayed in the which was very large and comfortable, modern yet traditionally stylish. The pool was not an option for us unfortunately as we ran into some cool and rainy weather but looked inviting.

Tony, Penny, and Charlotte were also very inviting - sharing parts of their home, and their pets with us. Our girls were enchanted and loved interacting with them. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed and enjoyed our stay despite the weather.

I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone wanting a balance of relaxing and siteseeing, spacious and attractive rooms at a good price, and a personal touch.
