“Oldest running concentration camp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

It is smaller and not on the scale of Auschwitz. But, the atrocities committed there were just as horrific. We had an English guide who did a wonderful job of telling the story of the camp. It was a very sobering visit, but necessary to understand what happened to the people there. Germany invaded Gdansk on Sept 1,1939 and this camp received inmates on September 2, 1939. They were mostly Poles who were on a list and were removed from their homes and businesses.

“Well worth visiting if in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Unbelievably Entry is free. Program costs 4zloty and provides all information required to follow the trail around all the exhibits. Presentation is graphic but done very well, this camp is different from Auschwitz but just as poignant, if you are interested in the Holocaust you should visit Stutthof Concentration Camp but be prepared to come away feeling drained and questioning mankind

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

On a long weekend staying with local friends always wanted to to visit here, it is a place to visit and I believe anyone who stays in the area should visit this memorial to at least 100000 people who died or was killed here. As you go round information boards are in english to explain what the buildings were. It is a very sombre place to go round and made the hair on the back of my neck stand out with the sadness about this site and the atrocities that happened here. It is a well managed place, we were told by our friends that a lot of schoolchilden visit to have things explained to them about what happened in the war and it is a very good reminder to stop it ever happening again, well worth the visit and the memorial at the end next to the gas chamber and crematorium leaves nothing for the imagination as to what happened there

“well worth visiting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Easy to get to by bus from Gdansk - although bus timetable is tricky to figure out.
Thought provoking place to visit - some information in English ( enough for you to understand its horrible history)and you can buy guide books.

“Reviving the attrocities of war: let there be war never again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

A must see for all people... A reminiscence of what the second war was about, how it affected people's lives and how the Holocaust was truly put into action... It's breath-taking and should be visited with a (personal) guide whose father/mother has been to this camp and who was able to survive...
