“Very over rated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We found the Coloured Earth attraction itself pretty boring. Thankfully the waterfall was there to add some value as well as the drive to get there. Lunch at a small restaurant on the way back down was also good so the trip wasn't entirely in vain.

“A must see!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

My husband and I visited Mauritius in October 2013.
If there is one thing you have to see in Mauritius it is the coloured earth of Chamarel.
Absolutely breathtaking and so strange to see all the different colours! There are also giant tortoises to see a few feet away, which was very special.
Go in the morning on a sunny day to see the colours at its best.

“Amazing”

When you see pictures it seems bigger than it is, but really enjoyed it, also the sandwiches in the open air restaurant. Good food for a good price

Best to go there late afternoon as light is good to photograph the different colours. Giant tortoise also in residence.

“Lovely views, not something you see very often”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Interesting attraction to visit and well presented, although its a shame you have to pay to get in as it pales in comparison to some of the amazing viewpoints nearby.

They have a rustic wooden board-walk around the coloured earths and it is worth taking the time for a visit, as your unlikely to see anything similar elsewhere. Situation in the middle of the jungle, it does offer many beautiful views and photo opportunities. They also have some small gardens and giant tortoises for your viewing pleasure.
