This is our third trip to Marlie which has to say something about it.
As always we found it a very friendly park, the staff always have a smile and will try their best to help you.
The camping facilities are great, you get a decent sized pitch, there are ample water points and the toilet / shower block is always clean - even on the day a pipe burst at 3 in the morning the maintenance and cleaning staff worked through the night to ensure things were fixed and clean for the morning rush. I would say that the facilities are probably just enough to cater for the pitches they have at the moment, if the overflow field is to be used more often (as it appears) then Park Holidays would have to install a new shower / toilet block to cater for this expansion.
The campsite itself is very peaceful and the majority of the campers respect their neighbours and the fact that many have young families. There is very little noise after about 11pm even (if like us this year) you are on one of the path ways leading from the club house.
Onto the clubhouse / bar. This can get very busy and is possibly the one are that is in dire need of improvement. The seems to be a serious lack of staff, with the same person taking food orders, preparing deserts and delivering to tables. Most evenings the guy was run ragged, saying that though they were always polite. Special mention to Adam who always had a smile and hello no matter how busy he was.
The bar staff were all very efficient and I have to ask how does Ben keep that smile ?
The entertainment suits us. If you want an action packed all singing all dancing cabaret every night holiday park Marlie is not for you. If however you want friendly entertainment staff that are equally as good at entertaining the kids as they are the adults. Some interesting travelling acts and traditional "holiday camp" fare then Marlie will suit you fine. Matt and Sofia both worked tirelessly to make things fun for everyone, both of them were so full of energy it made me tired.
The kids entertainment was great. I liked the way they sat and talked to the kids about what they had done during the day, it makes the entertainers their friend. The was just the right amount of games and dancing too. Have to mention Loopy and Cyril too, great park animals, they are just friends none of the competitiveness that has sneaked into other operators childrens entertainment in recent years.
I do have one complaint about the clubhouse. The lock on the mens toilet door at the back of the clubhouse is broken and has been for at least 18 months ! I have mentioned it on every visit so far.
In conclusion Marlie is a well run, friendly and relaxing place to stay. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone and will no doubt be visiting it again
