5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We spent 9 nights at the Muri after a hectic tour of Hong Kong and NewZealand. It was the perfect place to relax!Muris location on the lagoon is superb, but with easy access to the main town of Avarua by local bus.The hotel facilities were excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was first rate! The air-conditioning did fail one night in the bedroom, but this was rectified quickly and efficiently. It was the perfect resort!!!

I stayed while on business in March (off season so it was super quiet)..just a couples walking around like they were waiting for the Ark to open. I researched a lot of places and ended up negotiating a good off season rate with them directly.

The pool is one of the best I have seen in Raro, that's not actually saying much but better than many.
The lagoon is right outside and the access is really good for interesting walks and for a change of scenery. The lagoon and islands make it feel super tropical.

The atmosphere was too quiet for me but then the whole island was quiet in March. The music they played was like a tropical elevator and needs to change.

The Hotel itself was super clean, modern and well appointed. The staff were friendly.

It has a no kids policy and apart from no children running around screaming it also means the resort does not have all the "family"stuff you see elsewhere...things are be simpler without the requirement to cater for families and children.

There were just two TV channels and no DVD player.

Finally, WIFI is a nightmare to find at most sub $500 stays in Raro...They had WIFI in the room, it was twice the price as WIFI at The Edgewater and was slow. Always ask about WIFI in Raro as most can not provide it in the room. They did have a free internet in the foyer which was a generous offer and I used it a couple of times.

Room Tip: The POOL view room I stayed at was elevated, 3rd floor and had a nice aspect out to the pool, it was...

We stayed at muri beach club 4 years ago & loved it, so decided to return last week. It was special because it was our wedding anniversary as well. Sometimes when you return to somewhere it doesn't seem as good, maybe because it is more familiar or you know what it is like and the excited anticipation isn't as high. But when we checked in we were pleasantly surprised that we were up graded from the garden room to the same beach front room we had last time,'' fantastic''. We were checked in with the same efficency we remembered & quickly shown to our clean & tidy room. There was a personally addressed letter for us, welcoming us and various other info about the hotel & Raro itself, which was a nice touch. We arrived on a Friday & Friday night in their ''Silver Sands Restaurant'' is the popular pig & prawn night. With dishes like BBQ pork spare ribs by the platter which can feed 2-3 people for $40 or smaller platters at $15 also on the menu were flame grilled giant prawn platters & various other side orders to tempt you. The staff & management here are great and check to see if you need anything "nothing is a problem" and always in their warm and freindly way. On the Sunday we hired a scooter from the front desk which cost $75 for 4 days. If you don't have a cook Islands licence or need to renew it you can get a temp licence which will last until noon the next day & costs $7. Giving you time to get to the police station, you will need your passport. We were invited to a management cocktail party where free drinks & nibbles were supplied while we were informed of the many things that were on offer around the hotel & further afield. Normally once a week Ericka will take the guests on a complimentry snorkling trip to a great spot in the lagoon where she feeds the fish & large eels, its well worth checking this out. Ericka is also a passionate foodie & is very informative & knowledgable about the polynesian foods. On Tuesdays the local scuba diving business comes to the hotel pool & gives free scuba lessons, they can offer a variety of trips out on the lagoon or reef etc. $85 will get you a beginners dive in the lagoon for approx 45-60mins good value. The hotel pool is in need of repair at the moment with a few loose tiles. They are attempting to repair this while the pool is still full of water so not to create the inconveniance of not having a pool available. We enjoyed the pool & the lagoon. Wednesday night is polynesian night where for $49 per head, you are treated to a great display of dancing & a buffet all you can eat meal. Most nights there was some form of musical entertainment on. Did I mention how great the staff were? Freddie, Ericka, Liana, Daena & all the rest made our stay another memorable one. We are hopping to return sooner than 4 years next time.

Room Tip: the beach front bottom level rooms have their own sun loungers out the front of their rooms. the up...

We spent 10 nights at Muri Beach Club Hotel and it was amazing. The staff were so friendly - the pool was amazing! Had the best of both worlds lagoon and lovely pool. Was very sad to leave and can not wait to return to this lovely piece of paradise. The Polynesian evening was just amazing! The weather was lovely - we were never far from water to cool off!

Room Tip: Garden rooms are just lovely - great air con!

This is a very nice first class boutique hotel with just 30 rooms. It sits on a picturesque lagoon of warm water that never gets deeper than an adult’s chest. It is however filled with coral and aquatic life. This modern multi building hotel sits among a rustic and rural environment. The rooms are very large and airy with lots of shelf space, counter space and closet room. The bathroom is very large and modern with plenty of counter top space and storage. It has an extraordinary shower. Each unit has a patio with a view. Two beach towels are provided along with lovely bathrobes. The units are air conditioned and you control the temperature of your room. There is plenty of recessed lighting if you wish to read in your room.

Because there are only 30 rooms you get lots of personal attention from the staff. Some rooms are on the second floor of two of the buildings. We stayed in room 106 overlooking the beach on the first floor. We just had to walk out the sliding glass door of our room right onto a lush, soft sandy beach and then into the lagoon. The areas fronting the Muri Beach Club Hotel are fairly free of underwater obstacles, but as you try to cross the lagoon, as I did, you will run into a bunch of underwater obstacles in the form of coral and rocks. The trip across was interesting since I got to see an eel and a lot of various fish. This facility is an adult only hotel. The beautiful pool area is surrounded with ample chairs, umbrellas and lounges and there are similar chairs, umbrellas and lounges on the beach side as well. Each room’s patio has two chairs and ours had two lounge chairs on the beach right in front of our room.

The hotel has the Silver Sands Restaurant and Bar located between the pool area and the beach. You can eat poolside or beachside, or inside of the restaurant. The menu is very Polynesian and the specialty drinks are very appealing. Personally I would recommend the Snickers Bar drink if you like Snickers bars. Friday night is “pig and prawn” night. Since I do not like my prawns looking at me, my wife and I went for two small orders of ribs. They were among the best barbecue ribs I have had in a long time and there was plenty to eat. French fries appear to be a staple and they are very good. They are made in fresh oil and properly drained before you get them. We were only here for two days so we did not get to taste the entire menu. However, the bouillabaisse is most unique. It is served in a hollowed out coconut with two prawns standing tall in the opening. It probably can be shared.

The island itself reminds me of Jamaica with water on one side and mountains in the middle. The people are warm and friendly and are used to working with tourists. The people at the Muri Beach Club Hotel are exceptionally nice. The climate is hot, sunny and even hotter. But, you are never far from a cooling dip in the water. Bring and use your sun block.

Room Tip: You are in Paradise no matter the room. However we loved the room we had #106.

We spent the last 5 nights of our Honeymoon here and it was exceptional, the views, the people and the service, the food was sensational and the experience overall was exceptional. We were in a lovely, clean garden room.
I cannot rate this place high enough! I felt sad to have to leave.
Simply gorgeous, everything and everyone!!!

Our second time at Muri Brach Club. Had tried another resort in between, but with overseas visitors in tow, Muri won out. Our friends from Germany absolutely fell in love with the resort and its location. They are well travelled and not too easy to please, so it was high praise. We already knew how friendly the staff would be, but they were amazed at the genuine friendliness of everyone at the resort. We were pleased to see the upgrade of breakfast offerings since our last visit three years ago. Absolutely top notch, with different treats on offer daily in addition to the regular breakfast fare. 5 star dinner on Valentine's Day evening with romantic decorations to enhance romantic atmosphere :-) The operations manager went out of her way to connect with guests and treated us to a Saturday late night movie, just for the four of us. We will be back!

Room Tip: The first time we had a beach front room, upstairs with one queen bed.The view was wonderful - overl...
