We stayed at muri beach club 4 years ago & loved it, so decided to return last week. It was special because it was our wedding anniversary as well. Sometimes when you return to somewhere it doesn't seem as good, maybe because it is more familiar or you know what it is like and the excited anticipation isn't as high. But when we checked in we were pleasantly surprised that we were up graded from the garden room to the same beach front room we had last time,'' fantastic''. We were checked in with the same efficency we remembered & quickly shown to our clean & tidy room. There was a personally addressed letter for us, welcoming us and various other info about the hotel & Raro itself, which was a nice touch. We arrived on a Friday & Friday night in their ''Silver Sands Restaurant'' is the popular pig & prawn night. With dishes like BBQ pork spare ribs by the platter which can feed 2-3 people for $40 or smaller platters at $15 also on the menu were flame grilled giant prawn platters & various other side orders to tempt you. The staff & management here are great and check to see if you need anything "nothing is a problem" and always in their warm and freindly way. On the Sunday we hired a scooter from the front desk which cost $75 for 4 days. If you don't have a cook Islands licence or need to renew it you can get a temp licence which will last until noon the next day & costs $7. Giving you time to get to the police station, you will need your passport. We were invited to a management cocktail party where free drinks & nibbles were supplied while we were informed of the many things that were on offer around the hotel & further afield. Normally once a week Ericka will take the guests on a complimentry snorkling trip to a great spot in the lagoon where she feeds the fish & large eels, its well worth checking this out. Ericka is also a passionate foodie & is very informative & knowledgable about the polynesian foods. On Tuesdays the local scuba diving business comes to the hotel pool & gives free scuba lessons, they can offer a variety of trips out on the lagoon or reef etc. $85 will get you a beginners dive in the lagoon for approx 45-60mins good value. The hotel pool is in need of repair at the moment with a few loose tiles. They are attempting to repair this while the pool is still full of water so not to create the inconveniance of not having a pool available. We enjoyed the pool & the lagoon. Wednesday night is polynesian night where for $49 per head, you are treated to a great display of dancing & a buffet all you can eat meal. Most nights there was some form of musical entertainment on. Did I mention how great the staff were? Freddie, Ericka, Liana, Daena & all the rest made our stay another memorable one. We are hopping to return sooner than 4 years next time.
the beach front bottom level rooms have their own sun loungers out the front of their rooms.
