“Lovely, friendly people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012 via mobile

We stayed at Muri Beach Resort between 10.02.12 - 21.02.12 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The 2 bedroom apartment we had was spacious and set up very well. Plan to go back again in 2013. A big thank you to all the staff for making our holiday one to remember and a special thank you to Misc, Phillip, Peni and Mary for making us feel like we were home!

We arrived late at night and were upgraded to a beach front room upstairs as a wedding was being held at the next property near the garden room we had booked. This was very thoughtful of management. The next day we were transferred to a downstairs beachfront room close to the restaurant. The staff had noticed my husband had a walking difficulty and said this was better suited for us than the garden room at the opposite end of the resort. Both rooms were very clean and comfortable with beautiful views across the lagoon. Access to the beach was a mere few meters, the lagoon was pleasant to swim and snorkel in or the resort pool was available to do laps. Breakfast was tropical fruit, cereal, muffins and a hot dish of eggs. The restaurant at the resort for lunch and dinner was pleasant with good choices. Other restaurants were only a short walk. The staff were all very friendly and helpful this made our stay more relaxing.

We stayed for 8 nights over Christmas this year. We had to move to another type of unit for the last 3 nights so this review covers the 2 bedroom unit (first 5 nights) and the larger studio unit (last 3). The 2 bedroom was much better for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. Our oldest boy was set up in the living area on a roll away while the younger 2 had a bed each in one bedroom and we had a double bed in a room of our own. This rated a 5/5 and was much better than the studio where we all shared the same space (bunks, a double and a single) and had little room to breath. The position of the 2 bedroom was better too being closer to the beach, pool and the bar. The studio was as far away from the beach as you could get and further away from the pool and bar even though it's called a poolside unit - hence 3/5.
The service was pretty good but being over Christmas reception hours were few and far between. A few grumpy moments (due to staff not really wanting to be there) but overall 4/5.
The food was mostly average although the toasted sandwiches (grilled) were really good.
The resorts are forced by law to offer food service over the statutory holidays (this year 25th, 26th and 27th) as all restaurants are closed. Unfortunately it wasn't that good - 2/5.

The beach is quite nice for a walk but not so great for swimming. Lots of coral and rocks limit what can be done. Kayaks are available but hard to get out into the lagoon - reef shoes are a must. Once out in the lagoon snorkeling (using the resort's equipment) is fun and easy but watch out for coral; brushing against it can cut and infections can result.

Over all 4/5. Next time we will probably try out another resort.

Room Tip: Go for the 2 bedroom if you have more than 2 in your party!

This was a great resort especially for the kids. The loved the pool the grassy area and the beach. The staff where excellent and very friendly. Special thanks to Toby the groundsmen who made the kids a traditional cook island coconut boat they loved it. Just a pity it couldn't come home.

Central to all things to do in and around Muri Lagoon

Room Tip: Beach side Villas give you the best view and the best spot for a quite drink

We recently had a family holiday at Muri Beach Resort and really enjoyed it. It is really well set up for families or groups of families and friends. The location is awesome, so close to the beach and an easy walk to lots of restaurants. We stayed in two different rooms. The first one by the pool had a great location but the walls were only shoulder height so not very private for two couples and a baby. They were also harder to keep cool, but I believe they are turning these into proper two bedroom units now. The new two bedroom units were great with air con in each room and they were well equipped. We used the bbq facilities by the pool as well which were great. Free use of kayaks was excellent. They also provided a porta cot, car seat and toys for the baby while we wer there. We'd definitely stay here again.

We will definitely be returning to Muri Beach Resort. We loved the closeness to the beach, the beautiful park like surroundings, the fantastic villas which had everything needed and were tastefully decorated, the fabulous pool area and the lovely staff.

We recently spent our honeymoon at muri beach resort. We got a free upgrade to an awsome room close to the beach. The room was very clean and comfortable. The grounds were so beautiful and the location is perfect. We made good use of the snorkling equipment, reef shoes and kayaks which were all in great condition. The pool was lovely and the bar and restaurant a great place to spend an evening. We loved all the fruit trees around the grounds, particularly the coconut trees. All of the staff at Muri beach work hard to make the place such a beautiful and well run resort. A big thankyou to the lady at the front desk who was always friendly and helpful with booking tours or scooter hires for us. Muri beach resort was just what we were looking for for our time in Rarotonga, thank you so much for making our holiday so perfect. We are recommending your resort to others, look forward to meeting some of our friends in the future and hopefully us again one day. =).

Room Tip: all of the rooms looked great
