“Not if...but when we return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

My wife and I are frequent travellers to Fiji, Tahiti, Vanuatu and just recently, Rarotonga. We visited 11 years ago and unfortunately struck bad weather which must have influenced our view of the Country. This time we had fabulous weather and regret not returning to this delightful holiday destination before now. The tripadvisor reviews that rate Te Vakaroa as "The Best" were quite right. We spent some time during our 10 days to look around other resorts and accommodation. Nothing would come up to the standard of the 6 villas in this small but exclusive complex. Everything has been thought of right down to the oil and condiments for cooking - although why would you bother, with so many good restaurants (especially The Rickshaw) within walking distance or a short drive along the road. Thanks to excellent management and Nick (the owner) ensuring that maintenance of the property is kept right up to scratch, it feels and looks like new. Congratulations to Nick and the team for providing such a haven! Also congratulations to Rarotonga for the pride that they have in keeping the entire island clean and free from rubbish - the beaches are a credit to you all.

Best holiday I had in Raro to date. Upstairs Villas perfect for 2 couples.
The accommodation is beautiful. It is clean, modern but homely. Quality furnishings and fittings throughout. I had not one issue with management, in fact several times they went out of their way to make conversation or lend a hand. Housekeeping are very kind also.
Muri Beach is at the front doorstep, the infinity pool, Captain Tamas next door for kayaks/paddleboards, Sails restaurant as well, shops ect. I didnt even feel the need to leave such a beautiful Villa - apart from to eat!
The only thing, the reef is no-more at Muri Beach - we went outside 'The Dive Centre' for this, which is just a scooter ride away.

My wife and I just spent 6 nights at Te Vakaroa. We had a superb time. The room was well appointed. The room had a fully functional modern kitchen. We did not realize how useful the kitchen was until we went fishing and caught 2 yellow fin tunas. Location of Te Vakaroa was great. It took 15 mins or so to walk to The Mooring. We ended up going there almost daily for lunch. The beach was literally 4 steps away and lots of activities available right next door. We love the two-person Kayak. Just like any great resort, it is the staff that makes the difference. Nick and his team are friendly and would do anything to help. Te Vakaroa offers the opportunity to enjoy a little piece of the paradise.

This was our first trip to Rarotonga and definitely wont be our last. We couldn't have chosen better accommodation or a more perfect location right on Muri beach. Our downstairs villa was very spacious, beautifully furnished with a modern fully equipped kitchen and a very comfortable four poster king sized bed. Just a few paces from our patio was an infinity swimming pool and spa pool and then beyond the security gate a couple of steps down to the very safe beach.
Nick and his staff were so friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The continental breakfast served every morning was delicious and always delivered with a smile. Although there is no in house restaurant there are are several very good restaurant's within walking distance, and a short drive or bus ride away is 'Tamarind House' a beautifully restored heritage colonial house set on 2.5 acres of lawns sweeping down to the beach......the food and service there were fantastic, highly recommended!
The Rarotongan people were happy and friendly and always smiling....not surprising really living on such a beautiful Island....we only wish we had stayed longer, we will next time.
Thank you Nick, you made our stay so very special.

Once again our stay in Rarotonga has us all excitedly planning our next holiday and stay at Te Vakaroa Villas. Perfectly located on Muri beach we didn't even venture out except to go to the Saturday Market and the wedding we all had come to the island for....everything is right at your doorstep.....Restaurants, snorkelling, swimming, sailing and more . Private but not isolated Te Vakaroa Villas was an absolute haven to relax and have sun filled fun at. The Villas are the model of what beautiful Island holiday accommodation escapes should be. Huge thank you to Des, Poko and the amazing friendly, helpful and professional team who were never too busy to have a chat or get information from. Holiday at Te Vakaroa Villas 2013??? DEFINITELY!!!!

Our family of 4 (2 grown children) had 2 weeks here over Xmas. The 4 villas (2 bedroom apartments upstairs, 1 bedroom ones downstairs) are right on Muri Beach which is a fabulous location where you see the waves breaking on the horizon but in between you & them is a beautiful, sheltered lagoon.
The snorkelling is fabulous but it is best on the far side of the lagoon which is a decent distance. We often kayaked over and just flopped over the side to snorkel for hours. The kayaks & snorkelling equipment are next door for no extra charge.
The upstairs 2-br villas are amazing, with well-stocked kitchens and massive outdoor, covered verandas overlooking the pool, spa and beach. We spent most of our time out there on the comfy lounges and chairs when we weren't snorkelling, swimming or eating.
Talking of eating, it's standard to take food to the Cook Is. I'm not kidding - you see lots of polystyrene boxes coming in with people at the airport. Next time that's what I would do too as there aren't many places to buy fresh ingredients for cooking. Everything is imported to Rarotonga because the island is tiny (you drive around it in less than an hour) and the middle is dense vegetation & hills.
There's a great restaurant next door (officially the sailing club) and a couple further along the beach, but don't expect night life as there isn't any. If you want that, don't go to the Cook Is!
If you do want to do your own thing in a laid back, beachside, stunningly beautiful and relatively unspoiled location, you can't beat these villas.

A group of 16 of us recently spent 6 nights at Te Vakaroa Villas and we had a ball! Nick (one of the owners and on site most days) couldn't have been more accommodating and Poko (Office Manager and font of all knowledge) with her lovely smile and local knowledge just made everyone happy! The lovely ladies who delivered our yummy breakfast each morning were so friendly and happy that you started the day feeling on top of the world!

The villas are spacious and very well appointed and as we had the whole place to ourselves we just congregated in whichever one the food and wine was flowing in! Right on Muri Beach (did I mention the infinity pool that looks out onto the beach?) and within walking distance of at least four restaurants Te Vakaroa Villas is a must-return venue for me!

Room Tip: All rooms are fab - 3 x 2 bedroom and 3 x 1 bedroom - Villa 6 is the best 2 B/R and Villa 1 is the b...
