Owner description: Wingham Wildlife Park is set within 26 acres in which we display over 200 different species... That is more than any other zoo in Kent! Including some species not seen anywhere else in zoos in the UK, Europe and even the world! As well as the all important animal collection we have 2 large play areas (both indoors and outdoors, making them fun all year), 2 restaurants (although one may be shut in the winter season) and a wide variety of animal talks, encounters and experiences!

“Good View of the residents!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

I visited Wingham Wildlife Park this week with my daughter and two young Grandsons. My 2 year old Grandson was captivated by the Penguins and taken aback by the size of the Tigers!

We thought the ability to actually see the animals at fairly close quarters was great, especially the parts when their indoor habitat was visible through windows, which gave an even closer view.

There is a lot of improvement work going on and we will definitely visit again, to see how things are progressing.

The only downside was that, when we were there there appeared to be nowhere inside to sit for a drink, but for warmer times there are plenty of picnic tables scattered throughout the Park.

My daughter and Grandson enjoyed the walk through the Lemur enclosure too.

Dear Lawsos,

Thank you very much for your review, it is nice to hear that everyone enjoyed their trip to the park. We try to make sure that you are able to get great views of the animals, and even younger children are able to easily view animals thanks to the specially designed push off barriers which we use around our enclosures.

There is a lot of work still to be done at the moment and one of the big projects at the moment is the reception building. This used to house a restaurant (and will do once again upon completion of the new building) - However we do still have a fully operational restaurant in the Lions Den play area at the top end of the park, and I am sorry to hear that you missed this during your visit. As well as being a great place to warm up with a hot drink or lunch it is also a safe place for children of that age to run off some energy!

Hopefully we will see you again soon and that you will enjoy the improvements still to come.

Many thanks

“Fun filled day, the animals and play area are great.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013 via mobile

Since 2008 the park has seen some major improvements. The paths around the park are well improved and good for disabled mobility. The indoor play area is very good although the drinks/food is pricey, take a pack lunch.

The animals and enclosures are very well kept with an abundance of staff around. The walk in areas are great and educational for the kids.

There is plenty of car parking space.

Really enjoyed our visit and look forward toggoing back.

Dear Daniel W,

Thank you very much for your review, and we look forward to seeing you at the park again in the future.

We are well known for the hands on approach as seen in the walk through enclosures so it is great to see that you managed to enjoy these during your visit. There is still a lot to do in the park but it is great to hear that the work we are doing is being noticed and appreciated.

Many thanks

“Splendid Value Day Out!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Apprehensive after a recent critical review, we approached our visit with caution, and it's true to say that the car park and soon-to-be-demolished reception area, are both in need of overhaul! But since all the signs are that those faults are recognized, we were able to relax and enjoy a splendid day watching cared-for animals in very pleasant surroundings (and with plenty for children to do at no extra cost).

And all this at less than half the cost of what a visit to other local zoos might have cost.

If you're reasonably close - sadly, we are not - go now, and then return next year when the improved facilities are opened.

Dear Capitalstraveller,

We have had a couple of bad reviews lately, which I hope have not put off too many people, as it almost had done for yourself, but I am glad that people are taking the time to come and see for themselves - and hopefully also in seeing that our 5 star review greatly outweigh those few poor ones.

As you have noted we are well aware that the reception area is no longer suitable for its needs. It is actually a world war two barracks which was moved to the park and is now really showing its age. It is due to be demolished in the coming weeks and we have a beautiful new building going in its place - the park will remain open as usual during this time.

We are glad that you enjoyed yourself and a number of our members of staff recall speaking to you and are glad that you let us know what you thought. Hopefully you will be in the area again at some point in the future to see the extra improvements.

Many thanks

“Fun day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Whilst I agree that this is not to the same standards as the Aspinall zoo parks, we were pleasantly surprised at the size of this place and the variety of animals. There are ongoing improvements to the enclosures and the animals seemed in good condition and well cared for, most of them were out for us to see and not hiding away in their sleep areas so that must say something. There are some walk through areas, a bit like a petting zoo where you can feed donkeys and goats etc with the reasonably priced feed you can buy from the ticket desk (we paid £2 for 6 bags). There are plenty of places to use and gel and also to wash your hands after feeding the animals. Seems like a great place for children (although we don't have any). Couldn't see a problem with the toilets that I used but I agree that the cafe could improve, its a bit basic and a carpet is probably not the best idea.

Dear Helen D,

Thank you for choosing to visit the park and for taking the time to review us... it is great to hear that you enjoyed your day.

For us it is no insult to say that we are not at the same standard as the Aspinall parks, because we feel that we all offer a great deal in our own niche and the people of Kent have a wide variety of animal attractions at their disposal in this area. We are certainly not a big park, but as you noted yourself we are a lot bigger than many people give us credit for, and are certainyl a long way from the Bird park it used to be.

As you mentioned the cafe is out-dated and has now shut (we are still serving hot meals in the Lions Den instead) with planned work starting on a new reception building and restaurant. We hope to see you return to see what you think of the changes.

Many thanks

“Absolutely fantastic park A* STARS !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

This will be the 3rd year my family of 6 have renewed our annual passes..This has to be the best park in Kent by far.The animals are clean and there are plenty of them!you can see they are loved by the way the keepers talk to and about them. The cages are always spotless and they defiantly go out of their way to keep the animals and the houses in A1 condition.
If you are going for the day, make sure you get there early as they have built a new children s play area, where you can sit and have a coffee while the kids play in the massive indoor play ground..The children will defiantly want to go there, after looking at all the animals..Remember to bring socks for everyone in the party!!or you can buy them for £1.00.There is a cafe just before the entrance, which I find to be a bit expensive for us a sandwich can be as much as £5.00 which I find excessive. But you can bring a picnic and eat there. There is lots of seating dotted around the park..
My children love this park, just about as much as my husband and myself do ! If you live within a couple of hours I defiantly recommend you get the annual pass,as when the weather starts to get colder, the park quietens down, and you can walk around in the snow like we do,watching the animals in an even more beautiful surround taking beautiful photos,or just to use the playground! It is very in- expensive we pay around £140 for the 6 of us.We couldn't even get in to Howletts for that! This park is faultless and I highly recommend it They need to be commended for their service to the public and to the well loved animals.Give it a try,I promise you will not be disappointed ! Remember they advertise animals that ARE actually there! Not like some other place that I have mentioned!!! There ARE wolves, tigers, jaguars, crocodiles, lions and plenty plenty more... Monkeys, red tailed panda,snakes,meercats,raccoon,puma..So many to mention !

Dear Fluffypants007,

Thank you very much for the kind words, and your continued support of the park as season ticket holders. It is a great way to make the most of the park, especially if you have children or enjoy photography (something which is becoming much more popular with many of our visitors).

It is great to hear that you enjoy the play area, and word is certainly getting around that all members of the party need to wear socks, even if just supervising. We do serve hot meals in the area as well now, and while the prices may seem high (we advertise them on our website if people wish to chekc them in advance) - unlike many local attractions all of our food is cooked to order. However as ever we welcome our visitors to bring a packed lunch and have a number of picnic areas around the park.

Glad to see that you like the variety of animals and hope to see you continue supporting us so that you can see our collection continue to grow in the future!

Many thanks
