My mother and I went in October for twelve days. The hotel was absolutely lovely apart from the fact that there was roadworks widening the road outside the hotel, but we had sea views so therefore could not hear any noise where we were positioned. It was my mother's birthday whilst there, and they sent up a cake (which I must admit was one of the best tasting cakes I've ever tasted) to the room. The staff were friendly, helpful and well presented at all times. It's positioning was fantastic (especially to the designer mall just 500m from the hotel). The buffet was definitely 5*. (They could improve on the room service menu though). Plus although we didn't bring any children, we noticed the hotel was well equiped for entrtaining them and had a full staff dedicated just to the children. Would fully recommend and we will be returning.

Dear Clarey,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your holiday experience with others on Tripadvisor. We are delighted that you and your mother had an enjoyable stay among us.

I must agree that our location is ideal, located between two beautiful beaches and nearby Plaza Del Duque designer mall with many boutique stores as well as numerous excellent restaurants and bars. There is direct access to a beach promenade and as you noticed during your stay, they are also finishing a promenade on the other side of the hotel grounds that overlooks the Teide.

Our main buffet restaurant Zeus offers a different themed buffet every evening, as well as a show cooking area where you can order fresh meat or fish and a pasta station with numerous home made sauces.

As we vary greatly on the type of guest we receive throughout the year, we are fully prepared to cater and serve both couples, younger and older, as families with children. Thanks to this, we have facilities for children entertainment as is, for example, the newly opened Mini Club with its own swimming pool and pirate ship with waterslides, as well as a cinema room with Playstations for indoor activities and another indoor room for various other activities. Our animation team is always working extremely hard and has a wonderful time preparing numerous activities for the little ones.

Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and we are looking forward to greeting you again in Iberostar Anthelia in the near future.

Kindest regards,

Alexis Barbovitch

What a fantastic destination!, we are a family of four and had two adjoining rooms, this hotel is spotless, from the rooms to the grounds. We found that nothing was too much effort for the staff, we didn't get the all inclusive package, but did get the buffet breakfast. I could not think of a single breakfast food that was not there, from breads, cereals, to smoked salmon, pâté and cheeses. All the juice was freshly squeezed. I could go on for ages! We loved the location, so close to the beach shops and cafe's that really come alive in the evening. I do however have one gripe (sorry) and that is if you are here for any length of time you have to get laundry done. There is no separate charging for children's clothing, we paid 16 euro/dress for our 5 year olds plain cotton dresses and 3 euro/ piece for her underwear and consequently ended up with a 423 euro laundry bill, half way through our stay, I then did a lot of hand washing and purchashed another suitcase to take the rest of the laundry home. I honestly believe that this is something that needs to be addressed. Having said that, I would not hesitate to recommend the Anthelia to any family wanting a place to stay in Tenerife.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for taking the time to share your holiday experience on Tripadvisor – it was our pleasure to have you stay with us.

We continue to receive lots of positive feedback in regards to our breakfast buffet and our culinary offers in general and it is great that this was a highlight for you as well. As you mentioned in your review, our breakfast buffet has a truly large choice of cold and hot dishes, as well as, live cooking station where they prepare eggs in front of you and, of course, many kinds of freshly squeezed juices. I would also like to mention, that every evening we have a different theme for our dinner buffet so our guests can try various different gastronomies from all over the world.

Iberostar Anthelia is perfectly located in the middle of two famous beaches Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. Our guests have direct access to the promenade on which they can find many restaurants and bars.

We appreciate your comments in respect to our laundry service and apologize for the inconveniences it may have caused you during your stay but would like to let you know that we are considering your proposal for possible future improvements.

Thank you once again for all the positive comments, I am delighted to hear that you and your family had a wonderful stay at Iberostar Anthelia.

Best regards,

Firstly, the Hotel does have a "Wow" factor as you enter Reception. The staff were excellent and check-in easy and quick service from the "bell-hop". The Hotel is certainly not the standard hi-rise concrete block that Tenerife is renowned for. It's relatively low-rise and extremely well laid out, with plenty of open spaces and gardens meticulously kept by the ground staff. Our room was a side sea view room, which had a good view out of the hotel towards Playa de Fanabe and beyond, with comfortable seats and table at which to chill out. The room was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The only gripe was that whilst the bed was of queen size, this comprised two twin beds that weren't locked together, which made those more "romantic" moments a bit like a gymnastic exercise !

The main pool (salt water) is well laid out and planty of comfortable loungers but you know when in Tenerife/Med etc (and the Brits are as bad as everyone else, if not worse in our experience), you know that going to breakfast at say 9:00, you need to put your towels out first if you have a favoured spot. We don't mind this, it's part of the routine. Breakfast in the Zeus has a first rate choice of just about everything you could want for breakfast but unless you're early enough to get an outside table, can be chaotic inside, as it is after all, mass catering and even though we were there outside school holiday time, there were lots of small children in there, but it is after all, only breakfast.

We were on all-inclusive, which was exceptionally good value. All drinks by pool, lunch from pool bar or in Portofino restaurant (at lunch). Beware of the lunch menu here, as things are not as they may seem. For example, in the UK, when an 8ozs burger (without bread) is advertised, that means that the burger weighs 8ozs, plus the bread etc. There, it means literally an 8ozs burger, with no bread, chips, etc, in the middle of your plate with a couple of slices of roast potatoes. A couple of the staff here were also unacceptably rude. When I asked for parmesan for my Tortelloni (I am a parmesan "freak" !), I got told there's already cheese in it. I was given some when I insisted I wanted some (it had gone cold because they forgot to bring it out when hot) and every day thereafter, they made a point of plonking down a dish of parmesan for me, even if it wasn't required. That's not a 5 star way to go on.

I hardly used the pool, instead taking 5 minutes to walk out of the hotel down to Playa de Fanabe beach and into the sea, which is perfect. If you take 10 minutes to walk a well-worn path around the base of the low cliffs in front of the hotel pool, you come to a "blow hole" when the tide's coming in, which is amazing.

The Zeus Restaurant at night has a wide choice of buffet but we found many of the dishes only lukewarm at best. The freshly cooked stations were however superb - steaks, fish, pasta, noodles etc all cooked to your liking. We mainly managed to get a table outside but inside - just too chaotic to enjoy your meal, feel like you have to rush it. Excellent wine list on the AI, clearly laid out with what's included and for AI guests, it is extensive. However, two major gripes here. After you have ordered your wine, wait for them to bring it and open it BEFORE you go for any food, otherwise your wine will sit there in the chiller, waiting to be opened because unless you call someone, you seem to get forgotten. However, if you follow our advice, you get your wine nicely served, go and get your food and start eating and then someone turns up with a docket pad for you to sign which is thrust under your nose. Again, NOT 5 star - why not get us to sign for it when the order is taken, or the bottle is brought to the table ?

However, our AI included a meal in the the Poseidon, being able to see and hear the waves at night below us. We have been to many fantastic restaurants around the world and this ranks among the best of them. The setting, service and quality is outstanding and of a world class. So much so, we paid for a second meal there on our last night rather than face the Poseidon again. Definitely 5 star !

We also used the outside area of the Reception Bar every evening before and after dinner, including cocktails and the excellent Carlos I Spanish brandy. All covered by our AI package. The AI package at the Anthelia is in the same class as AI resorts in the Maldives, fantastic range and quality (Gin available includes Tanquaray) and the above brandy. Bearing in mind the number of guests here, the service ranges from very good to excellent, especially when Antonio is on duty ! Entertainment is subdued but quality but you can still talk to each other without having to raise voices. Perfect.

Overall ? The hotel is exceptional and deserves to be nestled among the Jardins de Navaria and Del Duque. Spotlessly clean everywhere, attention to detail, nices walks within and outside. Good pools, great beach etc and excellent value for money. The only things to change in our view ? clips on the twin beds to stop them separating when couples want to cuddle (!), it is not a hanging offence to ask for a bit of parmesan cheese on pasta when you've paid 3k for a week's holiday, change the way that you have to sign for the wine, keep hot food hot, not just warm so that it's cold when you get back to your table and more outside tables for the Zeus (in the garden area a few steps below it), so that more people can eat away from the chaos and movement inside, so you can actually enjoy it. It's a stunning hotel with the potential to match it's two world renowned neighbours and yes, we would definitely go back.

Praise also for Jet2, who we booked through and flew with. Might be back to basics flying but comfortable seats with plenty of legroom (I am 6ft 4ins tall), good flight times and attentive cabin crew. Would definitely fly with them again.

Room Tip: Side Sea View Room good but would book sea view next time

Dear Guest,

First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time in sharing your comments about your stay with us here at Iberostar Anthelia. We appreciate receiving feedback such as your own as it helps us in our search for constant improvement.

As you mentioned in your review, Iberostar Anthelia is a very spacious hotel with big gardens in the beautiful area of Costa Adeje. Our guests have the direct access to the beach promenade that leads to Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque as well as numerous bars and restaurants. There are also numerous areas of interest in the near bouts, making the beach promenade an excellent area for a stroll during the day of early evening.

Thank you for praising the cleanliness of our hotel, rooms and the hotel grounds as all our team of housekeeping and gardeners work extremely hard to keep our standards as high as possible and take great pride in their job, especially when reading comments such as your own. Such words have been passed on down to them.

I am glad you enjoyed our All Inclusive Premium offers, especially our premium beverages and gastronomy in the main buffet restaurant Zeus and 3 a la carte restaurants. We are proudly listed as the best hotel in Spain and in the top thirteen in Europe for best All Inclusive resort. I must agree that a la carte restaurant Poseidon has a unique location to enjoy your dinner and I would like to mention that just the finest ingredients from Canarian islands are used for elaborating these dishes. Our second a la carte restaurant Portofino offers authentic Italian gastronomy.

We have taken good note of your comments towards certain aspects of our service standards and appreciate you bringing it to our attention as it is already being looked into so as not to occur again in the future. Nether the less, I apologize for not reaching your expectations in this matter.
Thank you once more for writing such a complete review about your stay and I do hope that you revisit us in the near future, being able to appreciate the improvements in certain aspects of our service.

Hoping to welcome you in person on your next visit,

My kindest regards

Very nice hotel, rooms are nice decorated without carpet & the entire hotel is very clean. The hotel is not all inclusive for everyone, you can choose to book only breakfast or half board also. This is not the commun all incl. that you will find in every mega all incl. hotel but the service and also the quality of the food and drinks is beyond compare!
It's a bit more expensive but it's worth it!

We had an excellent stay in this hotel. Although the weather was rainy, though an exception to the rule, we did not regret any moment of our stay. The food is outstanding. We had
booked "all included" and were happy to have done that. We enjoyed every meal, three times a day. The staff is very helpful and friendly. This is a classic hotel with a beautiful lounge, a huge swimming pool and several smaller ones for the children. Our room was
simple but cosy and clean. We had view on one of the swiming pools and a lateral view
of the ocean. It was heaven and the rain did not bother us because of the temperature of 26°. We'll go back as soon as we have the opportunity.

Dear Guests,

First of all, let me thank you for choosing Iberostar Anthelia for your holidays. We are delighted to hear that you had an excellent stay with us.

Our Premium All Inclusive is a perfect way to enjoy all our services offered at the hotel such as free entrance to Thai Zen Spa, premium branded drinks, nonalcoholic beverages in the mini bar and the option to have a meal in either of our evening a la carte restaurants: Portofino, our Italian restaurant or Poseidon, our gourmet restaurant.

As you mentioned in your review, guests have the option of relaxing by the two large sea water pools or the heated fresh water pool. As for the little ones, they have a separate heated pool with a pirate boat and water slides.

It is a pleasure to hear that you are thinking of returning to Iberostar Anthelia. I do so hope I get the chance of welcoming you back in person.

We have compared this hotel with others we had used in our many past holiday and it is without doubt the best so far.
We have not used the Iberostar group before but this hotel is the best we have ever enjoyed.
Hopefully, we will return next year to enjoy more of the quality services we experienced this year. The location, the rooms, the food, and overall friendliness , yet all delivered with with outstanding professional service, all contributed to the best holiday experience we have have had in all our years.
We used to have a time share on the same island of Tenerife but that is history and we move now to a new phase of our life when quality is more important than just economy for others within the family.
Yes, this holiday, was a bit of self indulgence but we have worked hard in our lives and now deserve something some what better for ourselves, now the children have flown the nest and able to look after their own families. This is our time and this is a splendid hotel to enjoy it in.
