“Can it get any better ?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

The answer is yes, 2nd visit in 14 months and it is the first time we have stayed in the same hotel more than once.
Just a couple of negative points first, the hotel info clearly states no reserving sun beds but some guests still do it. Please don't do this there is always more than enough to go around and the sun shines everywhere in Tenerife not just on your sun beds. The 2nd point has been mentioned more than once and it is to do with smoking in public areas. We have had a smoking ban in the UK for a few years now because of the facts to do with passive smoking and the effects on peoples health. Tenerife doesn't seem to care about peoples health and is decades behind the UK. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL PROBLEM BUT A TENERIFE PROBLEM.
I would like the hotel to research the problem it could end up being one of the leaders in looking after peoples health and one of the first in Tenerife to go no smoking in public areas. Rant over.

We were met in reception by Gilda one of the butlers and her first words were Welcome home. Then Kim from management turned up with another warm welcome. The room 208 was a superior room and was fantastic, the first things to see when the door into the room was opened was a daily paper ( the same one we got 14 months ago, top marks ) and a birthday cake for my wife and bottle of bubbly.
There is so many good things to say about this hotel but what makes it special is that it is like a family. It starts with Kim from management, not always sitting behind a desk but hands on and always talking to guests. Then you have the butlers Debbie, Gilda and Vanessa. If you want any info or advice these are the people to see. Please don't be afraid to ask them anything they are always helpful. Then you have the brilliant Montoya in the pool bar and equally as good Ruth on the breakfast terrace. Some of the staff you don't always see in a hotel are the cleaners, these are the best we have ever had. One day I spilt some suntan cream on the balcony and when I wiped it up you would expect it to bring a little dirt up, not here.

We talked to a lot of guests on different packages and they seemed delighted with what they were on. In our opinion we like B&B because we travel to Tenerife a lot and know where is good to eat. Plenty of good places to eat nearby, we always avoid the ones were someone is standing outside trying to get you to go in. Portofinos on site was very good.

We need and start to see more of the world, but whenever we return to Tenerife this hotel will be the first on the list. All the staff are fantastic but we have a soft spot for Gilda, Montoya and Ruth. Keep up the high standards and please look at the smoking issue.

This was our second stay at the Salome. We were wondering if we would start to notice any little faults that perhaps we missed the first time around.
We arrived at the hotel a little after 8pm and were met and checked in by Debbie.
Having previously emailed the hotel to ask for room 107 we were happy to find that this room was available and so by 8.30 we were “home”.
Debbie explained all we needed to know and we had a quick freshen up and went to dinner in the main buffet restaurant, even though by this time it was getting close to the end of the opening hours we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a plentiful selection of food available.
Things at the Salome have changed very little since our previous visit so in short it was still superb but a couple of things we felt could be improved on.
First, we feel there should be more waiter service around the pool. By this we don’t mean more work for Montoya, who really does work his socks off, but perhaps someone there all the time who could take drinks orders and deliver them. This is not done at the moment.
While the butlers are there some of the time, they are not there enough to provide this service.

Secondly, we would still like to see an outside area at each dining area which is smoke free.
While we still understand that Spanish law allows for smoking outside it is not compulsory and at the moment the only way for non-smokers to be guaranteed a smoke free atmosphere is to eat indoors.

None of these points would be enough to stop us going back to Salome, however if they were dealt with it would in our opinion massively enhance an already top 5 star experience.

Interestingly while we were at the hotel we spoke to people who had stayed at other 5 star hotels nearby and they were blown away by how much better Salome is.

Thank you once again to all the staff. Hope to see you again soon.

I am just back from the most fantastic holiday at the Grand Salome Hotel. The room was luxurious, the food was delicious and the staff were so helpful and attentive. It was lovely sitting eating breakfast in the terrace area and gazing out at the blue seas. For a quiet, peaceful, laid-back and luxurious holiday this is the place to go. It certainly merits a second visit - and soon.

Room Tip: The rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the pool area - as well as their own - terrace...

Spent two wonderful weeks at grand hotel salome. The staff really make your holiday the best ever. Cleaning staff waiters and the butlers especially Debbie and Gilda who I cannot thank enough for making our holiday so enjoyable. Yes it is more expensive to stay there however you are waited on hand and foot. Go try the Salome you won't be disappointed.

This is our 5th stay at the Salome suite and it just gets better each time we stay. It's a small hotel with very personal service, VIP breakfast room, great pool cafe and excellent suites. Kim, the Manager, is superb, together with Gilda and Debbie and the other Butlers are professional and will attend to all your needs without being "in your face" all adds to the unique service provided. The private pool has a lifeguard, Danni, who will ensure clean towels are provided each time you come out of the pool, he is an excellent addition to the overall service. Great restaurants are within easy walking distance, we have never eaten in the main Anthelia hotel so can't comment.

The Grand Salome is a quality site 'within a site', BUT - do not let this put you off in any manner at all. The Salome is the exclusive and tightly controlled [secure, VIP key card access ONLY] five star 'wing' of the site, it is completely separate and self contained, with its own large pool, and VIP breakfast terrace. The setting? SUPERB. The staff team? SUPERB The rooms? SUPERB The welcome and processes of the management team? SUPERB. The food? SUPERB

This hotel, and particularly Kim van Petegem - the attentive and professional manager of the Grand Salome, is comprehensively excellent. Detail is carefully and unobtrusively managed every step, every minute of your time as their guest. Top notch and delightful.

Already booked our next visit and looking forward to bringing the whole family on another visit to come too!

Room Tip: All rooms are essentially 'suites' with excellent balcony outlooks towards the sea and overl...
