My partner and I stayed here for 6 nights in August 2012.
At the end of the day, you get what you pay for! We booked with Agoda and got a very reasonable discount price of about $65 on average a night. (the hotel was advertising a walk in rate of $99 a night while we were staying there, and there is much better places you can stay for that sort of money!!)
Check in was very quick, although we did arrive close to midnight, so we were happy and grateful for that! The staff weren't exactly 'over friendly' but we just assumed it was because they were tired (being late and all)
The rooms are perfect for a one night stay, but not so great for anything longer than that...although they are clean, and the bed was fairly comfortable, our room was alongside the main road and next to a service station and the windows weren't exactly soundproof!
Staff came round everyday offering clean towels and a new bin bag, which was nice as clean towels in other places usually are only given out if you ask for them.
The bed sheets weren't changed throughout our stay, but we aren't dirty people so this wasn't a problem for us, but I know some people prefer clean sheets every couple of days so just a heads up!
The hotel does offer an all you can eat breakfast for $7 which included cereal and possibly toast as far as I could see. They also sell 'breakfast on the go' for $8 which included cereal and some other things.
Whenever we left or entered the hotel, the staff didn't acknowledge us, which was slightly annoying and made us feel unwelcome.
Location for first time visitors to Sydney isn't the best...although there is a bus stop right outside the hotel so travelling into the city is fairly simple, just a bit long. You need to catch a bus to either Strathfield or Burwood train station which both take about 20 minutes and then catch a train which takes about 15-20 minutes. It is possible to walk to both train stations from the hotel also, which we did 3 times, but it is quite a way and takes about 45min to an hour.
There is a few fast food chains right outside the hotel, but if you want decent/and/or healthy food, we couldn't find much in the area, so eating in the city was easier as there was lots of choice!
(However, we were first time visitors to the area so we knew of nowhere, obviously if you know the area you may know good places to eat)
Overall it was clean, comfortable enough, although noisy. Good for a night or two, but not for long stay. Quite a distance from the city, but easy enough to travel there.
Not along the main street!
