“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2010

Morpheas pension (room only) provided simple, but immaculate accommodation, with views to the sea and the hills. It is an easy, short walk into town to shops, restaurants, cafes and the ferry terminal. The owner was most helpful and pleasant; he even met us with his car at the ferry port and took us back when we were leaving. We would be very happy to stay here again. It was excellent value for money.

Very comfortable and clean apartment with lovely terrace and views. Kostas the owner is very welcoming and helpful. Even dropped our bags off for us at the ferry on our departure.

Kamares beach was a little disappointing but hired a car for 4 days and explored the island. Definately recommend visiting Vathy beach and eating at Manolis restaurant for clay-pot traditional dishes. Hilltop Kastro village beautiful to explore on foot and very friendly bar/restaurant with straw sunshades just on the right up the steps from the bus stop.
Cheronissus on the north of the island is an attractive small fishing cove and the local potter Konstantinos Depastas is an entertaining character.

I can only agree with most of the other reviews for this place. The location is excellent, quiet but just a few minutes from the centre and next to the beach.
The family who run the Morfeas are very friendly and helpful and the garden setting makes for a very relaxing environent.
I will be staying here next time I visit Sifnos for sure.

Kostas is the perfect host and even picked us up at the ferry. The room was large and very clean, with a good size closet. We had a lovely quiet patio where we had breakfast every day, surrounder by flowers and birds. The location is ideal. The beach is long and clean. Rent a car and explore the island if you can.

As others have stated, this is a very nice spot right by the beach, 5 mins from restaurants, lovely situation. The owners are genuinely nice people. Though fairly plain, the rooms area a good size, bed is comfy, good clean up to date shower. Lots of hot water. I wish I had stayed here longer as it was well priced and I loved my big terrace with views to both the beach and the pretty countryside. A very good find!

Anne & I stayed for 6 nights before doing the Historics in Athens on the way home & this must go down as one of the nicest breaks we have ever had.

Our room was basic but very clean with Air con & a fridge. The bed was comfy & the bedding changed in mid week.
Kostas is a really nice guy & nothing seems to be too much trouble (thanks).
There is Wi Fi so don't forget your laptop for BBCi & your Emails.
Our sun terrace had a table & 2 chairs with a lovely view one way to the mountains & the other out to the bay which was great for watching the boats coming in/ going out.
Eating out on the island is not cheap & a beer will set you back 5 euro for a pint our finances were not helped by the fact that we only got around 1 euro to the £ at the time! However there are a couple of small supermarkets to be found where you can buy most things to be self sufficient, & the bakery (which takes some finding) makes lovely bread for a euro a loaf.
The location is such that you really have no choice other than to chill out.

Beaches & out & about - the local one (just across the road) is nice & slopes gently to a depth just enough to swim, so for someone who likes to know the bottom is there it is ideal. But its well worth getting some transport & going to Vathy, Chrysopigi & Faros as these are all beautiful.
If you want picturesque then Cherronisos is worth the drive, when you get there it just seems to be one big car park but get out & take a stroll you will be pleasantly surprised.

Also worth a mention is Sifnos Stoneware located at Agia Avva, Artemonas the views from outside the pottery is worth the trip on its own. The owner is from the island but spent many years building his potters reputation in the US, his son also makes pottery & spent 3 or 4 years in the UK studying at Nottingham University. They & the potters wife are all so friendly & their work is such that you are sure to find a memento of your trip that is special for you or as a gift to a good friend.

Transport -
Roads in general are good.
The bus runs every day but its all change at Apollonia, & figuring out the connections is a bit daunting for getting back from any far flung beach.
All types of Motorbike are available just down the road but we opted for a hire car, be sure to haggle a bit as I did manage to get the price down.

I am sure that we benefitted from going early in the year as nearly everywhere including roads & beaches were pretty much deserted, having said that the temperature & weather was great (never saw a cloud all week).

We spent 4 of our days just lazing around Morfeas & the beach with a loaf of bread & a few beers, wine & fizzy pop in the fridge = Nirvana

Go & enjoy, we will definitely return.

One last thing make sure you visit the Matt Barrett site @ http://www.greektravel.com/ it is the absolute bible for anyone travelling to Greece.

We stayed here for 9 nights in May whilst we walked all over the island.
Had one of the two apartments which was excellent value.
Top marks to this place. Spotlessly clean. Laundry available and allowed to use the office computer to check e-mails.
We had a late checkout to catch a ferry and were allowed to stay an extra half a day without charge - and given a present on departure!
Family run and everyone went out o their way to b helpful.
Highly recommended.
