Those, to whom a resort means rides, noise, loud music and day long restlessness, should definitely steer clear of this place. Ffort Raichak has class written all over; it soothes you with it's serenity.
The accommodations are different for those who go as a client of time share (a big family unit with self catering facility) as opposed to those who book the hotel (a room with a balcony). I have availed of both and the experience of the family unit is understandably superior.
If you can start really early (I always do so by no later than 5am on either way), a completely stress free drive along a metalled road through the beautiful paddy fields takes you there by flat 75 mins; from airport it takes double. During busy hours, Airport to Raichak may take 4 hours or more.
Mr Harsh Neotia developed the fort from it's ruins to give the guests an impression of how things were during the Dutch possession. The resort takes you back to the olden days of it's history and the memory of the stressful city life magically leaves you for some time. You may take a dip in the swimming pool and spend some time in the sports centre, go for a long walk through this immaculately maintained vast place, see different parts of the original fort, enjoy the gorgeous sunset over the river bank or take a boat ride to the other side of the huge river Hooghly and back. The fish eating folks can do a great shopping of fresh fish at the river bank, keep in the fridge and take back home.
Culinary options are multiple inside the resort, wee bit expensive though. To have one's own vehicle for the round trip and the stay makes things lot easier.
Every time I have gone there, I felt like coming back as soon as time would permit. If you are looking for a quiet break not too far away from the city of Kolkata, there are very few choices and, that way, this place is heaven.

Enjoyed our stay. The spa was truly international. The Baked bhetki at dinner was top class. Definitely will go back. Got a river view room - could sit hours in that balcony. Good room. Good service. No complaints.

Room Tip: Go for a river view room

I stayed two times in this hotel; both times I was in Kolkata due to business reason.
When you approach to this place the impression (and the expectations) are very high. The image of this old fort along the Ganga side is impressive and charming.
When you get into the hotel you see, at the contrary, that a massive work of renovation would be extremely necessary. The rooms are acceptable but looks really "tired"... (!)
No wifi and the cable connection almost doesn't work.

The staff is kind but most of the times they are not able to offer what you ask them.
Theorically I was informed that there was a gym but never visited because closing time was before 8 o'clock (!) and never come back before that time.

In the end, I repeat, it is acceptable. But, if you see it from outside, you are expecting more.

Once restructured and renovated would became a jewel.

We stayed for 1 Week. Hotel rooms and service is good. Hotel provides a very good food direct from the kitchen of Radission.. Situated at the banks of Hoogly river near Daimond harbour. Good Ambiance, very organic look n feel, huge open space greenery around, I enjoyed the stay with my family. would love to visit the place again

I loved the rooms dey were clean, spacious and comfortable. To beat the heat the first thing we did is we hit the swimming pool. The water was very clear and it was a sheer joy swimming. Then we ordered lunch in the room and the food was awesome. In the evening,we went for the free massage at Anaya spa,it felt grt.Next we took a walk in the garden area took lots of snaps and viewed the nearby flowing Ganga. Then we went to 'Footloose' (disc) and danced to our hearts content.

Room Tip: Book the rooms in 4th /5th floor for a better view of River Ganges.

If you are looking for a nice weekend trip away from noisy Kolkata, this is a place to be.
The drive to the place might not be a very comfortable one as the road is extremely busy and could be a driving nightmare during evenings. But what you get at the end is a very peaceful and calming atmosphere. Nice property with options of choosing your themes to stay which could be heritage at Ffort Raichak or modern at Ganga Kutir. Kudos to the architect who has done an excellent job. I heard he was brought in from Lanka.
Rooms are decent although the mosquitoes might bother you at night. The view with the river flowing is excellent. You may opt for a boat cruise which is pretty affordable at 400 rs a person. Service is comparable to any resort. The spa is also reasonably good. The swimming pool at Ganga Kutir is a nice one. Worth a dip.
Thats about it. An itinerary more than 2 days would be a waste of time as there is nothing much to do but to admire the scenery. There is nothing near the resort to look around.
Recommended for a short weekend trip.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the riverside
