“The Pallava Masterpiece - Group of Heritage Sites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The single rock temples are astonishing and shows the masterpiece of pallava kings. This group of monuments consists of many cave temples, stone carvings and shore temple.

This is a must visit place and also do try to get the stories behind them. They will be interesting. Without that one will just say that there is nothing much than some stone sculptures

“Explore and be amazed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

The park in the centre of town is just riddled with the most fantastic rock carvings. They seem to have seen these huge rocks and just felt the need to carve them! The Five Rathas, carved out of a single rock, have to be seen. Apparently they were never finished, which becomes obvious when you know it, because, after 70 years of work, they got involved in a war and stopped work. They seem to be just as they were when carving stopped. It's worth getting a guide to explain what it's all about.

“Amazing history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

The large park containing the majority of Mahabalipuram's monuments is really an embarrasment of riches. There is just so much to see in one place. Richly detailed carvings, interesting geological features, and even a lighthouse with a spectacular view make this park a key attraction in a town with incredible history. It's no wonder that it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. Combined with the Pancha Rathas, the Shore Temple, and the Tiger Cave, Mahabalipuram's monuments make this place a must-see for anyone touring Tamil Nadu.
