“Budget hotel with some problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

The staff were pleasant and the rooms pretty clean, overall the courtyard and pool are quite appealing. However, there were a few problems that would not allow me to recommend this hotel - these included:
- Heavy smell of disinfectant in the room.
- Mosquitos and bugs that really got us during the night.
- Sleep was disturbed throughout the night by the air conditioning system that rattled loudly on a regular basis; several barking dogs and a 4 a.m. Rooster.
- purchased an hour of WiFi service and got less than 45 minutes.
- no hot water for the morning shower.
- Dinner buffet was bland, however our breakfast was very good.
This could be a great place with some refurbishing.

This is a budget hotel however on passing numerous other hotels in the immediate town area, seems to be of a similar standard. It has numerous rooms, both AC and non AC. The room we had was quite large however lacked both the hot water and wifi that was advertised (we paid for an hour of wifi however it never worked).
The hotel does have a nice swimming pool which is set beside the dining area. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was a buffet with Indian breakfast options, egg options and toast.
The main pro of this hotel is its location – it is 5 minutes walk from both the shore temple and Arjuna's Penance.

This is a really good budget hotel which is bang in the center of the town. The rates are extremely reasonable and the service is extremely good. If you are looking at staying in the center of town then this is the place for you. Both the 'Arjuna's Penance' bas relief and the Shore temple are at walking distance and so is the market place. The garden area within the hotel is also very quiet and peaceful, and quite elegantly done. The swimming pool is good and the restaurant is passable. I would recommend this place if you are planning to come and stay over for a couple of days and do sightseeing in the town.

We stayed in 2nd floor two rooms of this hotel for a day on 30th Dec. short stay is good due to following pros & cons

Pros - superb location opposite bus stand in market, near to tourist places
- very good & polite behavior of Mr Vijay ,Mohan Raj & all staff members
- well maintained swimming pool
- heritage look
- ample parking
- clean rooms with good a/c
- sunrise from hotel roof is superb

Cons- overpriced
- very poor service, we asked for a flask of hot water which they cant provided for more
than 1 hour in room inspite of calling reception many times, ultimately went to reception
to collect flask.
- took 50 mintues to deliver lunch in restaurant
- breakfast & lunch were average
- no hot water in bathrooms in morning , housekeepers came again & again but could not
rectify defect,so we have to check out without bath
- At 5.00am two cock on backside of hotel started crowing in chorus till 6.30am which
disturbed our sleep
- no elevator
- Toiletries only soap & small moistueriser

Overall short stay is good due to location & excellent behavior

Room Tip: Rooms on 1st &2nd foor are good in main building

The hotel is a decent one; facilities in the hotel and inside room are good. The hotel is not on the beach but only 200-300 meters away. Staff is helpful. Breakfast is good; but not lunch or dinner items.

Hotel is located in the centre of the town so all the places of attraction can be reached by walking..very near to the bus stand just 5 min walk from the bus stand. Rooms are clean and well maintained but slightly overpriced. Food and the service at the Restaurant is not great and can be rated below average. Room service takes a very long time. Staffs at the reception are more helpful and friendly. Overall convenient place to stay for a day or two. We had booked a cab from the hotel on the way return to Chennai, we were only females and were not to clear about the directions, the driver provided by the hotel management was not cooperative and was very annoying.

We opted to add an extra 2 nights at end of touring holiday so stayed 4 nights in total, having already stayed in at least 9 hotels / resorts in Southern India, this was by far the best. We felt completely comfortable and relaxed. We chose to eat in the hotel restaurant for all our meals as the food was very good, service was excellent and very good value for money. The manager took the time out to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and chat to us at length. The bonus during our stay was the kids from the local orphanage being brought over and being allowed to use the swimming pool, which they thouroughly enjoyed. And the mural over the pool has excellent detail, adding to the ambience with the small birds that are kept in the grounds.

Room Tip: The rooms with a balcony allow for a very relaxing evening to enjoy the atmosphere
