Wow, this was a superb place to visit & with a great atmosphere. But the monks were something else! I bought some flowers wrapped in banana leaves as a devotion. They were wrapped with cotton thread & I wasn't allowed to touch them, In complete contrast, the monks had their masks under their chins (perhaps they were off duty?) so I think had 'lost the plot a bit'. You had to giggle (very quietly of course!)
All in all, a really interesting place with great views & wonderful carvings. One of the 'must sees' of India. The road too & from it is also worth the trip going from the sandy plains of the Thar desert up to the green slopes full of crops & turbanned farmers loading ox carts. Fabulous for photographs.
