“Very enjoyable trek”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

It is a fairly easy trek up the Kalyangad fort. A person from the village below offered to show us the water-filled cave along with his son for Rs. 100. We agreed on it. He had a big torch and came along with his young son. After seeing the cave we shared some sweets we had with them and gave the money. He started asking for more money. When we asked him the reason he said that he expected us to do some pooja inside the shrine and keep some money there which none of us did and so he was upset. Obviously he takes all the offerings kept inside by the devotees. We refused to give him any more money.
We did not meet any other trekkers while going up , but a few people arrived when we started descending in the afternoon.

“Kalyangad Fort Near Nandgiri Village, Satara, India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Tour to this fort was one wild experience...it was a full moon night we started walking towards the fort, with no steps or a proper path towards it we had to make our way. It was drizzling and by the time we reached up it was evening, so scary was the surrounding... the fort has ruins but a well kept mahakali cave temple .. the caves are to be strolled very carefully so ropes are tied on each side or else you would directly go deep down 100ft. It is said that the caves lead a secret path to the near by samarth fort called sajjangad.
