“Average bbq place”

Today i visited for the first time Vivano, and based in its location and value, i would say that it is really average.

The food was good, however from 1pm on there is a guy that start to scream in a megaphone the number list on the waiting room. It seems that you are in a betting place, since he starts to scream; number 152, ready to go, number 153 ready to go....

Eeryone on the environment has to listen the number of the people on the waiting room.

If you want to be served in a salad bar, you will have to wait in a line, that may be slow and may be around 5 minutes, which is quite ok.

The price, well it is 25 USD per peron just the rodizio, however with drinks and service 10% you will pay 40USD per person.

It is less than the average in Sao Paulo, however very expensive for Sao Caetano city.

If you want to eat meat and you are in Sao Caetano, might be a good choice, however it is worhless to drive from sao paulo to Sao Caetano just to eat there.

“Excelent Churrascaria near São Paulo”

Great value for a reasonable cost, Vivano is one of the best Brazilian steak houses I´ve ever been. Good salad, meet, fish and even japanese food.

“How Meat should be done!”

I was on a business trip to the Sao Paulo area and went to Vivano for lunch with a number of Brazilian colleagues. They were talking about going to this place all week so I figured it was something out of the ordinary.

This is what went down - the place is huge - half a football field size (ok maybe not quite). There is a large buffet area with appetizers, salads, some sushi (it's everywhere in Brazil), some desserts but no main course. So you start off here.

The main course at Vivano is meat - beef, port, lamb, fish, sausages, etc. If you're vegan - don't bother with Vivano. The meat courses are not at the buffet - rather they are brought to your table by the attendants who are circulating throughout the premises. For those of you familiar with Chinese Dim Sum - where the attendants come to your table with carts of food; sort of like that but the guys are carrying the meat either in trays (for fish, port chops) or on large skewers (roasts, sausages, slabs of meat. The skewer is the size of a short fencing foil. With skewer is in one hand - the other hand is a large knife - better described as a small machette. As they come by, they will slice the portion that you point out. As it comes off the skewer you take it with a pair of small tongs. You pick the portion you want and the quantity you want. Gluttons paradise. All you can eat and the quality of the meat is very good since it is not sitting under a heat lamp. Each slab/skewer comes out and is promptly consumed - turnover is quite good - food stays very fresh and hot. A little red-yellow-green indicator on the table tells the attendants if you're "done - not ready - or serve me". Being a meat lover, this was a great experience.

I am told there are many places like this in Brazil; at Christmas time, reservations are absolutely required even for lunch.

No idea the cost since my hosts paid. Suffice it to say, it's not cheap.
