“Loved this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

Our family of four stayed in this little hotel at the end of March, 2012. We had two rooms with twin beds in each. We had one room with a gorgeous view of the terraces, and the other room with no view and a horse living beneath who occasionally whinnied in the night, LOL. Request a room with a view! We paid the older ladies to carry our bags up, which they very happily did for the income (about $10 for a basketful, round trip!), and I was glad that we did, even though we are reasonably fit, it was nice to climb up the steps without anything heavy, and just enjoy! If you're debating whether to stay a night here in Longji, or just come for a few hours on a tour...STAY it is fabulous. We enjoyed our walk in the hillside very much. A cup of tea sitting on the balcony in the morning overlooking the hills was breathtaking. Bring earplugs...roosters crow all over town all day and night. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Definitely request a view

A small hillside hotel, clean, with personality and a white cat in residence. After a series of faceless 4 star big city hotels, this place was a delight. Yes, the beds are hard, but after a day of hiking the rice paddies, you won't have trouble sleeping.

We swapped to this hotel at the last minute after the much more expensive Li-An lodge refused to provide extra beds for our two children. For less than the price of one room at the Li-An Lodge we took two very sweet room at the Star Wish. Beds were a little on the hard side but the room was clean and the bathroom more than adequate. Breakfast was a little confused due to language barrier but we ended up with bacon and eggs which were very good. The lady at the reception desk (maybe the owner?) spoke very good English and was very helpful.

After the long walk up to the village, the friendly welcome was well received. The hotel is basic but clean, with good amenities and the rooms, with bacolnies, have a great view over the valley.

All is not perfect, there is a lot of building work going on nearby at the moment, and thsi starts early. Not the hotel's fault though. Be aware that the beds are very hard although after a long walk through the fields you may not even notice!

The food was slightly disapointing, probably better to avoid teh western dishes and go for the local food. They know how to cook this! We had either raw chicken or tough beef, littel in between.

The staff are however wonderful and this makes the place worth recomending.

Room Tip: despite the noise, go for the valley view rooms.

This small family-run hotel was the biggest surprise of our holiday in China. The welcome we were given was wonderful, followed by a fantastic meal in the evening, which included aubergines in garlic (which were out of this world!). Nothing was too much trouble !

The beds were a tad on the hard side, but we would thoroughly recommend the Star Wish.

Room Tip: All the rooms have good views, but ask for a balcony....

We hired a car with a driver and guide from Yangshuo to Ping'an and stayed overnight to truly experience the rice paddies. We arrived at late afternoon at the base of the village and it was quite a challenge to hike up the hill to the hotel carrying our carry ons, although the local minority people were waiting to carry them happily charging some RMBs. We made it by ourselves even having two grandmas with us and they were very proud that they climbed it carrying their bags.
The hotel has beautiful views overlooking the village and rice terraces from the room balcony. It's spacious but the beds are a bit harder like most chinese beds, but not bad. We slept very well!
Breakfast is simple but you have a choice from the western menu with eggs, toast, pancakes and coffee.
We had a minor problem with a funny sound from the smoke detector in one room which they promptly fixed it by changing the batteries.
We had an amazing time at Ping'an and the hotel was part of it. I recommend it!!

We had a good stay. Friendly and helpful personnel. Quite comfortable taking into account one is upon a mountain in between the rice terraces. Good food. Free Internet access that even worked.
