“Location location...beautiful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2011

About Location.

Igatpuri what should we say....Just 1 word...Beautiful...
The Resort is located in between 2 mountains.
Since this is rainy season there were all shades of green everywhere and weather was superb.
The resort has natural beautiful small water paths flowing beside it.
Overall the location was amazing.

Rooms.

The resort have different sets of rooms Non ac/AC deluxe etc.
The rooms beside the pool have superb mountain view but can be noisy as it is beside the swiming pool.
They have a swiming pool as well and small section for children as well in the pool itself.
Rooms were Ok nothing to praise about.

Food.

The food was buffet at all times.
There was veg as well as nonveg sections of food.
The preparation was good atleast when we had it.
Outside drinks were not allowed as they have their BAR section but very expensive.

Verdict.

A resort with superb location but poorly maintained.
Doesnt seems to be a family resort as we found lot of crowd specially Gents enjoying their weekends at this resort.
The family might feel akward also the pool is always occupied by the groups and womens and kids will have to suffer as this place is always crowded on weekends.

after recommended by one of my friends for several times..i finally decided to this resort n i must admit i was somewhat disappointed. It can be cause of high expectations or even might be coz we later went to MTDC bhadardara for a stay of couple of days..but all in all it was an avg experience.
The best part of this resort is that its on the way to Mum-Nashik highway and still very much away from the noise and close to the nature. It is surrounded by hills but frankly speaking it gave me a feeling of suffocation or obstruction than a pleasant view.

Pros :
1.Rooms are Neat and Clean
2.Closer from the highway and yet close to the nature
3.well maintained swimming pool
4.Good recreation area for kids

Cons:
1. gives u a feeling of a resort stuck among the hills
2.Food is Very avg but no good options available near by
3.Not Value for Money..Specially since MTDC bhandardara is just a few Kilometers away from here and it has one of the most amazing views for sure.

To sum it all up.. Its an ok option for family and kids to stay for a couple of days stay just to relax.

Room Tip: Take rooms with balcony

The good: Location and Service. The resort is located between hillocks. The restaurant service is quick.

The bad: Main problem is that the resort is very poorly maintained. Even for Diwali weekend, some of the light bulbs in the room as well as passage did not work. The taps in the bathroom were leaky and had to be turned off below the basin. The so called "games room" had misty smell and has a carrom and TT table but you would not want to stay there for more than half a minute. The swimming pool seemed like the water had not been changed for weeks and we cancelled our plans to enter the swimming pool.

The rooms are quite ordinary. The bedsheets did not seem fresh. TV is too small. The wall clock did not have battery. There was no remote for AC. The AC display was faulty and did not display temperature correctly.

The food was tasty but the oil/ghee seem to be of sub-standard quality as it caused upset stomach.

If you have kids, please watch out for the openly left electrical switch boards near the beds. The kids play area is also not maintained. Dogs and cows roam around in the space. Grass is not cut short and you worry about snakes and other creatures which may be hidden in the long grass.

You take a meandering left turn at a derelict dragway with a glaring gate on the Bombay-Nasik highway and then switch off.

Switch off the phone and switch off the world out there to get you and switch off all the stress of modern day living. In a green valley is ensconced The Golden Resort. The place is literally hidden from the world, mobile phone range, included. You shall return rejuvenated!

Uday Bhai, the manager was very helpful in getting the telephonic reservation done.

The resort is about 5 kms from the Igatpuri town, which has many shops, and it would be a good idea to buy your personal stuff while you are driving in.

We reached there at about 3 pm and the food that was served within 10 minutes of ordering was way beyond my expectations. The Mixed Vegetable with that twist instantly became my staple for the 4 days that we stayed there!

In the evening we went to a Dargah that is next door and that experience is Divine.

Best Experience: Within the resort, the best place is the area behind the swimming pool. Go there and spend hours and hours, sitting there in the greenest and coolest of the groves, doing absolutely nothing. Maybe, sip on a beer. But that should be it. Nothing more.

The staff is courteous and our dealing with all of them showed contended employees.

Worst Experience: The tea bags used in the pot tea are beyond hopeless. Buy your supply from Igatpuri (many decent brands available), should you need.

The bathroom's exhaust fan provides ample opportunity to the lonely lizard to enter in and cause SHRIEKING-girlfriend-in-the-midst-of-her-bath-now-running-hither-and-thither-in-the-bedroom-with-the-towel-haphazardly-wrapped-around! (Not too bad, actually, if you think about it!)

The Location of this hotel is the best part of all. Manas (both) are much hyped and are way to costly as compared to Golden Resort. I went to Manas Resort first to have a look, but I was not happy with the management out there. I relaised this when I had my breakfast after my drive from Mumbai.
The staff is very helpful and room service is quick. They would come to my room and remind me that my lunch/dinner is pending if I was a little late than all of the guests. I had taken a package of 1 night/2 adults with food which costs me 2800, which is way better than Manas Resort. It is a wonderful place for trekking/hiking enthusiasts.
Anyway, I was not very happy with the rooms, as they were very misty, little smelly and bed sheets were looking clean enough. But after my request, they did change the sheets, sprayed some air freshner and it was not that bad anymore. I believe all rooms are misty because of the location of this hotel.

Final Conclusion: If you have Igatpuri in mind, this hotel will be be a better option than any other hotels situated there.
