“good place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

the resort is at a very good spot, right beside the kali river.

the reviews i read here were glorifying and i guess that lead me to have very high expectations from this place.

staff was very courteous and helpful. food is one of the best i have tasted in resorts.its like home food.

accommodation: river-view tents were good but dont expect too much of a view as there are a lotta trees infront of the tents and you can hardly see the river. but the ambience is still worth the stay. rooms are very clean and they have hot water too. There are a coupla cats and a few monkeys in this resort which can be a little irritating.

Sightseeing:
- bird watching and nature walks were very good.
- safari was a let down as we dint see any animals. the view-point during safari is beautiful.dont miss it.
- natural jacuzzi is good too. you need to get down & up 250 steps though. so take ample amount of water with you.if it rains, the rocks get very slippery and you wont be allowed to go to the actual jacuzzi spot.
- we were told, all fishing points were closed following a supreme court order that such activities were disturbing the wild life. dint make much sense but that's that.
- the resort advertises 'mountain biking' as one of the activities here. but they have just 4 bikes and all are under repair. so that's gone too.

Rafting: Off-season or no, rafting depends on when the officials release the water. apparently, if you know some authorities in the karnataka forest department, then you can get it done. the day before we went, there were some forest dept officials staying in the resort so they could get the rafting organized for them.

Camp fire every evening was good. apart from a hammock and a 'tyre swing' nothing much to entertain kids. there is no fitness centre or a spa here.

overall: good only for a relaxing trip. if you are looking for 'adventurous' then this is not the place.

Room Tip: choose only river-view tents.go for coracle ride in the early morning, else you cant see any chrocod...

A typical Jungle lodge experience not too far from civilization is what you can expect here. The property has something for people of all age groups making it a good option for family outings.

We had taken up a river facing tent, the tent was good and well maintained. The machaan in front of the tent gave it a very nice add on, the hammocks and tyre swings along with the nets gave the kids enough scope for activity.

The safari was a let down with no sightings at all an that seemed to be the norm there. The drive through the forest was nice and the one stop at the table top from where we could view the valley was really worth the climb.

Then there was this drive to the waterfall and a downhill walk which led to this scenic spot where water was flowing through a cave like formation on the rocks. The steps that lead us down there was an educational tour giving us a detailed learning experience of the rocks found in that area as samples of rocks have been mounted on concrete with details of the formation and type of rocks.

Bird watching is an activity you should not miss. The coracle ride on river Kali was also very nice. There a many adventure water sports one can choose from.

Food at the resort was good with more of local delicacies. The staff was co-operative.

The best part was the morning walk along the river, the spiky rocks and the fog above the river gave it a very out of the world kind of a look.

The bonfire every evening is also worth the time spent.

overall good experience...very helpful staff... however for bird photography I'd recommend Old Magazine house situated about 22 km from Kali Adventure camp, though Kali has a lot better facilities. Get hold of Mr Sridhar for birding...Mr Gajanan and Das are good guides who know a lot about birds and the surroundings. Food is good though gets monotonous after a while. White water rafting can be fun during the summer.

Room Tip: avoid tents in peak summer as there is no air conditioning

JLR Property. Bang in the middle of Dandeli. But you dont feel like that.Once in..you forget civilization...unless you look across the river and see private bungalows being constructed...hahaha....Great food...superb JLR Service...basic but very courteous. The free Jungle Safari was awesome...Nice track...very steep slopes...Missed seeing a wild elephant that was spotted by some other jeeps...saw Bison, Peacock, Great Indian Squirrel, monkeys, deer, rare bird species, jackal etc. I believe there have been Tiger and panther sightings this month itself...There is a view point in the forest from where you can see the entire Dandeli Anshi stretch from a height...Very Humbling experience. The Coracle boat ride in the morning was a last minute decision..Included in the package. We spotted a Crocodile on the river baanks !!! Beautiful sight it was. Missed the nature walk in the morning..Plenty of hammocks and children have lots of open space to run around. Food is typical JLR...almost like home food. In the evning there were snacks around a bon fire..No music allowed Thankfully. The bar is stocked with some basic options.Overall a superb day and night in the jungle...Took the A/C rooms...as the humidity was high and we were with kids...Large new executive room...very basic but very comfy. The guides and staff were awesome...very friendly...and the manager himself helped me book my next resort at Devbagh JLR online...Thank you Mr. Mohan Babu sir !! Hope to see you again...maybe in the monsoon !!

Room Tip: A/C must if summer...otherwise its very green and pleasant...Executive rooms are good for families o...

Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd has many properties (hotels) in Karnataka & T.N.
The Kali adventure camp is name of their Property in Dandeli. We short listed it based on some judgement from reviews in Trip Advisor. And the experience is very very special:
Location - On the banks of River Kali. Rooms - Tents, A/C & Special A/C. We had opted for Special A/C room. Reservations done through Bangalore Office & procedure was very fast & simple. M/s Jayanthi madam helped a lot. All staff is very well trained. Manager Mr. Mohan Babu is Customer focused & very helpful. Under his leadership, all activities are very well organized. He is totally devoted & makes it a point to satisfy the Guests. All operational systems are in place & well monitored. Mr. Manjunath was our program organizer. He takes personal interest in finalizing itinerary as per Guest's choice. All activities are very punctual. He has done a splendid job. Our guide was Mr. Shashidhar, a naturalist. He has more than 30 years of experience & vary vast knowledge of everything in jungle. He brought huge value to our Jungle Safari & Bird watching. Very courteous & committed guide. A special mention about transparent working of the unit. They do ensure that whatever is part of the package, is given to Guests. No hidden costs & no cheating. Package includes, all meals, stay, safari & sight seeing charges. Only River rafting & Kayaking are extra. Food is very good & hygienic. Main chef is Mr. Raj Kumar & he is doing a very good job. Special mention about the service. It is awesome. Everyone takes care of the guests. They have no expectations of tip etc. They only want Guest to come again. Mr. Mansingh & Mr. Shivappa were outstanding in service. Hotel is totally safe. Rooms are very clean. Another special mention: For river rafting & Jungle Safari, "Kali adventure camp" is the main focal point. Only their jeeps are directly allowed inside jungle & rafting activity for all the lodges in Dandeli is co-ordinated by them.

Stayed in Kali adventure camp for 2 nights. The place is surrounded by nature - green tall trees, with so many birds and their callings...Our tent was facing River Kali. Very safe and hygiene. No TVs in the room(Yay!). Typical jungle stay - with basic things to take care of your needs. (But, the other side of the river is the Dandeli town.)

Activities: The jungle safari was good. Though the jungle was lil dry, the ride was nice. Sighted some Spotted deers, malabar pied hornbills, indian gaur, barking deer, mangoose etc The morning Trek lasted for 2 hrs (4 KMs), where we could sight atleast 25 -30 varieties of birds. We trekked along the river side, which we will never forget.Nice! The naturalist GuruDutt was very informative. During Coracle ride, the boatman showed us crocodiles lazing around the bank of river. The hornbills cross the river as we had a ride in the river. The boatman has wide knowledge of flora and fauna of that area. As a package, they took us to Syntheri rocks, which was a wild beauty!! Not to miss!

The food was delicious/fresh,with local dishes. The spread was decent and stomach friendly. Lunch/dinner with hot rotis....Evening snacks was OK. Totally, We found the food natural and organic.

The staff were very helpful and courteous. . From the naturalist, jeep driver to the boatman, are friendly and enthusiastic - always ready to fulfill your purpose of the visit! The staff crew is just wonderful.

My kid thoroughly enjoyed our stay/activities here. We will recommend this place for sure, if you are/have kids who loves to connect with the nature/loves wildlife.

Room Tip: River Side tents

The Kali adventure camp is situated in a the small town of Dandeli. The inside of the resort is calming and green. Food is good and staff are helpful.
Take the long jeep ride to the forests of Dandeli and if you are lucky sight the black panther. We had no such luck- sighted only peacocks and one solitary deer. The view from the top of the forest is stunning - the entire Anshi forest range at its majestic green best
We went during the monsoons, hence could not indulge in rafting or other activities.
However the coracle ride was good. We managed to sight a small crocodile, several hornbills ( wow) besides a few other birds. A great place for people who like the calmness of nature coupled with the tweet of birds..

Room Tip: Ask for river facing cottages/ tents if you are upto it.
