“3rd & final review”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

This is my third review of this hotel & will fortunately by my last, I recently got the good news I'd no longer need to travel to Bokaro.
My reviews have not been flattering & my rating has been reduced each time, as I despair with this place.
I will keep this review short, as I feel I've said most of what needs to be said previously.
My biggest problem, personally is the lack of privacy & quiet, due to the amazing lack of sound proofing this hotel has. Bokaro, like much of India is a noisy place & I usually look forward to shutting out the din when I go to my room - no chance here though, you can even hear you neighbours on the phone & I therefore assume they can hear me. Parties & temple affairs are very regular & they like everything loud, very load, they completely ignore the noise regulations & sneer at you if you dare to complain. The furniture lacks any kind of padding & no one every lifts anything, they only drag across hard floors. Staff also seem to live on site & it's from them that much of the noise that disturbed many a nights sleep seems to emanate - in many places the customer is king, here we seem to be an inconvenience.
A/C deserves a mention, it's central air & does very little to actually reduce the rooms temperature, it's very noisy & regularly seems to recirculate the smoke from nearby rooms - for a non smoker this is particularly unpleasant - they do not appear to have any no smoking rooms, when much of the world no longer have any smoking rooms.

Room Tip: Difficult to find a quiet room here, but avoid the front of the hotel for parties, the rear of the h...

Stayed in the hotel for a night but did not find the hotel value for money. Though they provide complimentary breakfast and dinner, their cleanliness and service is not up to the mark. May be they have an old building but it is time they redid the rooms.

I stayed in this hotel from 09.08.12 to 10.08.12 .The hotel rooms, location and ambience is very good..Front desk and staff is good but will not go out of the way to help you.Rooms are ok for a place like bokaro. But the hotel design is so hapazard that it will be difficult to find your own room.Food in restorent is ok and managable. This hotel could do much better in all aspects. Value for money is average considering rooms are expensive and you dont have too many options.Overall recommeded for stay and you should not have too much expectations

Room Tip: Rooms are difficult to acess

In my previous review I commented that this hotel "could do so much better", well they still could, but they're not, if fact things are actually getting worse!
The food is still good & even better if you can find something you like in the free buffet - the food is the only thing preventing me giving this hotel 1 star.
The Hans is still the best hotel in Bokaro & that's why they are not concerned with improving, but having travelled India for a few months now I can confirm this is the worst value for my money I've found so far - it's more expensive to stay here than five star hotels in Delhi, Ranchi & Surat.
The rooms are the biggest problem - they're a good size & reasonably well equipped, but they are in desperate need of a good clean & updated décor. The equipment regularly isn't working; TV, kettle etc - the windows tend not close properly, letting in the elements, insect & doing nothing to abate the cacophony of road noise, generators, parties & temple sounds (amplified through speakers). You can regularly quite clearly hear the goings on of not just the adjoining rooms, but half of the floor due to lack of soundproofing.

This latest trip has led to some rather unpleasant discoveries, mainly concerning local wildlife – I’ve seen bed bugs, ants, lizards, mice, locust & frogs, none of which I mind, so long as they’re outside. The hotel obviously know about the insect problem as they secrete copious amounts of moth balls & paste which produce an unpleasant pungent odour, which you do get used to but others can smell on you for days after leaving.
The bathrooms have everything you’d expect, but again require a good clean & probably most of the baths need replacing – mould & leaks seem to be the order of the day.
Services at the hotel can be a bit hit or miss, with laundry regularly coming back somewhere between wet & damp, this has even started to creep into the main laundry as a trait the bedding often feels damp, hardly a surprise when you see the number of buckets catching leaks around the place.
The staff, on the whole are pleasant & helpful, but until this hotel vastly improves & or reduces it’s prices to reflect the actual standard, it’s going to remain a one or two star expensive necessity on my travels & I’ll continue writing review like this.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front are the noisiest. The rooms at the back are the quiestest, but hottest. The...

It is Just average Property. We are lucky to have this property at Bokaro as this small town does not make much commercial sense for a good hotel. My votes goes for the hotel. It is relatively comfortable, hygienic and safe place. If you are at Bokaro and wish to stay at hotel must opt for it.

Room Tip: Suites are Good Option.

All the ingredients are there with this hotel, attentive staff, good rooms, good location - it's when they try to add that all together that it falls apart.
There's no licence here, so no drinks either with your meal or in the mini bar.
Food is good & cheap - service is a little hit & miss though.
They have no idea about coffee & even if ordered after a meal you just get Nescafe sachets & hot water!
Rooms, especially the suites are good & cheap, but they really need a good clean - bedding leaves an awful lot to be desired - & the bee nest lodged in my window was most unwelcome guest.
They have great potential, but very little competition & therefore no pressure to improve.
Still it's the best place in Bokaro.
