“First class b&b”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

Me and my wife stopped overnight here to attend a friends birthday nearby. The room was very clean with bright cheerful decor. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast one of the best we have had.

One possible drawback would be that breakfast is served at one big table rather than smaller private ones, however we sat with a lovely family visiting from Norwich and enjoyed their conversation.

Overall it's a great option and has much more character than a travelodge. Recommended

We stayed here as we were going to a party at the cricket ground. Nicely proportioned and decorated twin room. Very clean. Great shower, nice towels and toiletries. Generous tea tray and a bottle of still water each. Breakfast was excellent- fresh fruit salad, lovely toast and a perfect full English. For the money, couldn't be faulted.

Alan made us very welcome on arrival at this charming B&B. Very much a cut above the norm, our beautiful room at the rear of the house was equipped to a high standard. Lyn served us a lovely breakfast. Our hosts went out of their way to make our stay perfect, even turning down our beds and lighting the lamps, in readiness for our return in the evening.

Nice fittings and equipment. Front bedroom a bit cramped and noise from road. No shelf or surfaces in bathroom. Although room clean generally, WC not spotless which freaked my wife out a bit.

Stayed at the Old stables which is the self catering cottage. A wonderful welcome to a wonderful and very comfortable cottage with allmod cons - the very first time I have actually washed and ironed on holiday but the place had everything so why not...

Its centrally located for all there is to see and Alan and his wife are the perfect hosts. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone home from home... June Boström /Sweden

Hollycroft is a pretty B and B, ideally located for visiting the local sites---Beamish---Durham City--- Newcastle Upon Tyne and the lovely Northumberland Coast .

The delightful hosts are very attentive--we had a lovely tea tray in our room and got a choice of breakfast every day (although they did say that is not always possible --they do it if not too busy ) Breakfast by the way was delicious.

They also looked up the opening times of local sites and train and bus times for us .
We had the use of a large sitting room with HD TV to watch the soccer and I have to say after staying in the minute rooms so favoured by European Hotels it was nice to have so much space. Oh and the rooms are beautifully decorated .
