After a few nights of camping in Dartmoor (in the rain) we were very happy to arrive at Sweet Water. We booked here having read a couple of reviews and seen the nice photos – and we found Jill to be a lovely host, in a lovely house. Our room was very comfortable, we had everything we needed and a good night's sleep (even if a couple in another room did everything they could to keep us awake!). Jill's dogs are very sweet and she keeps them out of your way. (They do not smell, like one reviewer said). This isn't run like a business, but Jill will go out of her way to be helpful.
The breakfast is superb; you will be sat around a big farmhouse table with the other guests, you will have tea, coffee (cafetiere), fruit juice, freshly made fruit salads, muesli, breads, home-made jams, home-mixed yoghurt, and a cooked breakfast which could be bacon or sausages, or both and fresh local eggs, possibly fish! Depending on what she has at the time. But rest assured it is a superb breakfast and Jill is serious about having as much organic food as possible.
There are superb coastal walks nearby, St Ives is very close and there are a few local pubs a short drive away for a decent meal and pint, would especially recommend the one in Zennor, Jill will help you with recommendations.
This is a big secluded house in the Cornish hills, it's peaceful and quiet, you can hear the wind and the creaks in the wood – if you don't like that then you would be better suited to a soulless Travel Lodge where you won't see a spider and will have a big TV to stare at. We liked it and we'll be back again soon.
