“Perhaps the finest hotel in all of Mexico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2006

Wow wow wow wow wow. Wow.

This is an outstanding hotel. Having fled the Radisson Gran Ancira in the middle of a business trip, arriving at the Quinta Real was completely amazing.

I travel over 20 weeks a year on business and stay in some of the world's top hotels. The Quinta Real Monterrey is right up there - the hotel lacks nothing.

Food: Absolutely superb. The restaurant, room service, it's all just fantastic. Try the "Noplaes con quesillo" salad.

Gym: Not world-class but really nice and comfortable. Enough of everything you need.

Rooms: I have an upgraded room (Gran). For around US$230 it is magnificent. Great layout, Hermes products in the bathroom (seriously, Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte soap and lotions), excellent in-room safe, tons of closet space. The only thing I would chang is the TV - it's a 26" old tube TV - I would replace with a 42" plasma as they have in the Park Hyatt Seoul.

Service: For Monterrey (service in this city is so-so...Mexico City is much better) it's very good.

Cleanliness: Perfect. Everything looks and smells clean.

I have stayed at Crowne Plaza and the downtown InterCon. Nothing comes close to Quinta Real.

  • Liked — The food is really memorably good.
  • Disliked — TV in room should be upgraded to a large plasma.
  • Tips/Secrets — This is T H E place to stay in Monterrey (hey, that rhymes!)

La Quinta Real was a very comfortable stay. HUGE room, nicely decorated with cool amenities. Laundry and room service prices were exhorbitant, as were drink prices in the bar. Architecture of hotel is historic and enjoyable.

I must stay that my stay at the Quinta Real was quite nice... The complex is amazing. The service was very good as well. I had problems with the telephone in the room and had people come and fix these. They were attentive to my needs.

There's a large shopping mall right across the street so you at least don't feel unsafe walking around the area as I sometimes do in other Latin American hotels.

The breakfast was really excellent, and felt very five star... It did come to about $15 + tip, but was worth it in my opinion.

The charge to use the internet is high... I paid $34 to use it over a two night stay for business travel in April 2006.

Otherwise, I'd have to say that I'll definitely return to the Quinta Real on my next trip to Monterrey.

Beautiful artwork everywhere. Interior architecture a delight. Oil paintings and lithographs in my suite were magnificent. Loved the view from the restaurant. A number of cats live on the patio, but the staff is managing them. ; )

Outstanding hotel that combines the graceful architecture and artistry of bygone centuries with all the modern conveniences of the 21st century. The rooms are spacious, dead quiet, spotlessly clean, and elegantly appointed with upscale amenities and toiletries. I normally prefer downtown locations, but I'll put up with being in el Valle for a hotel with this much class. Rates are usually among the highest in the city....but so is the quality.

I speak no spanish - nada. Scared out of my mind while arriving at La Quinta Real, however, the well trained staff were all well prepared for my lack of communication. Although Monterrey is prime for business and shopping, it is surprising that a city whose everyday citizen speaks fluent Spanish was able to handle my handicap (and with style might I add). Every need is met. Forgot your hairbrush? Socks? Underwear? La Quinta Real will be happy to run your errands and purchase anything you desire at the mall - appropriately located across the street. Breakfast is delicious, lunch is fashionable, and dinner is divine. After long nights of seing Monterrey's tourist attractions: nightclubs, museums, parks you will be pleasantly surprised when coming home to La Quinta Real's midnight menu! The building is beautifully designed and its gardens are frequently used for weddings or other types of celebrations. A relaxing spa makes up for its lack of a pool. The gym and hot tub sit next to an outdoor celarium where one may sunbath or enjoy company while dining. The perfect get away for any time of the year, one hopes that you will always be able to keep it real at the La Quinta Real.

All Quinta Real hotels are pretty with nice Mexican touches and the Monterrey property is no exception. It is the best place to stay in Monterrey.

Monterrey is largely a business destination and this hotel should invest in staff training to speed up the service. Check in lines are long, check out lines are long. When you call the hotel, the switchboard puts you on hold normally for nearly a minute and then asks you who you wish to speak with. Speed up the service to make it more practical for business.

Otherwise, no complaints.
