Having booked a romantic night away in Faweather Grange, I received a copy of my reservation and a brochure. All the information pertaining to the booking said that the address was High Eldwick. We drove to High Eldwick - but could not find the Grange. We drove on and reached Eldwick itself - still no joy. As we were quite rural, we had no service on our phones to ring for directions. And to make matters worse, it's not on satnav. When we finally got through on the phone, we were informed by the owner that the postal address does not actually match their location, and we needed to head in another direction altogether towards another village. something we should have been informed about with the booking confirmation I would have thought. This would have saved us 40 minutes. The lodge itself was lovely and we had a pleasant night. Next morning, 8.30am on a Saturday, we woke to the sound of a JCB doing some construction work to the cabin next door, along with workmen. I did mention it at reception, but just got a big smile and a 'well, what can we do' attitude. I didn't want to make a fuss but thinking back on it now, I really wish I had said something more to them, both about the lack of information about their location, and the building works.
I can see what the owners of Faweather Grange are trying to achieve but I really think it falls short. It just didn't strike me as a tight operation. The location is amazing, but that's Yorkshire for you. But if it were me again, I'd try one of the other places. It might just hit the mark...
