“Mosque”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

After visiting the UAE and seeing the 8th largest mosque in the world in all of its splendor, this could in no way measure up. It was run down and needed a lot of work. It is the largest muslim mosque in China, but then how many are there in China?

“Okay if you like mosques”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

There are a lot of mosques in this area and I feel that once yo've seen one, yo've seen them all. It was interesting and the tomb of the Fragrant Concubine was interesting, but didn't do much for me.

“Id Kah Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

Don't come all the way to Kashgar just to see Id Kah. It's just a large yellow mosque, now in the middle of a large open space, with Kashgar being rebuilt in the ancient style all around it. It is significant and symbolic for the Uyghurs as the centre of their worship in Xinjiang, but it's nothing special to look at and if you've seen the glories of Bukhara and Samarkhand or Isfahan and Shiraz, Id Kah will seem ordinary and bland in comparison. You can walk around inside outside the times of designated prayer and there's a lovely garden inside but no more lovlier a garden than you'd expect in every other mosque in Central Asia. Women have to cover their heads.

“regional significance and beautiful yellow tiled front”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The historical and regional significance of the mosque is mostly the reason to visit. The yellow tiled front is beautiful and picturesque.
It's a short visit, but if you are in the area you won't miss it and should step in.

“Guidebooks exeggeration”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

The so call largest mosque in China is a completely let down, some guidebooks boasted that it can accommodate 10000-20000 people for the prayer is an outrage exaggeration. It can hardly handle 5000 people even including people staying outside in the courtyard/garden. The praying hall is small, dark and dirty. Any mosque in the middle east or Istanbul would be 10 times more beautiful. and bigger.
