“Clean oasis with value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2009

At 380 rmb per night for a twin room including 2 breakfasts (chinese but also on the spot omelettes) this is value for money. Only thing is the restaurant is not offering more then 3 vegetable options so after one meal a vegetarian needs to look for an other restaurant. Which is no problem, try the Uirgur kitchen.

The major drawback of this hotel was that our room reeked of cigarette smoke, especially after a shower. There was also a fair amount of smoke in the hallway and the lobby. I guess petroleum barons have historically been smokers. Other than that it was fine, not remarkable, not bad. Breakfast was good and the staff was nice, but ultimately not that helpful because they do not speak English, at all.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while traveling in Xinjiang. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Amenities included an in-room computer with Internet connection, office supplies, and fax machine (we just used the computer). They offered evening turndown service, which included a flower, biscuits, and even a bottle of warm milk. Bed was firm, but comfortable by Chinese standards. Complimentary breakfast is included in the room rate. If you're looking for a nice dinner, go to the Altun Orda Restaurant, which is about a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. The Old Town and mosque are less than 10 min walk from hotel. Excellent travel/guide service and good espresso drinks can be found at the Karakorum Cafe, across the street from the Chini Bagh Hotel (10 min walk east of this hotel).

Newer hotel in Kashi, mainly designed for business travel. Staff is friendly but very, very little English spoken. Rooms are comfortable and clean, breakfast is delicious, location is good, walking distance to Old Town. The beds were rock-hard, but that was an issue at most Chinese hotels. Also, there is a sauna, but we couldn't locate it or it was locked - not sure. In-house restaurant.

  • Liked — Clean, new, good location
  • Disliked — The bed was like sleeping on the floor

A very nice hotel in central Kashi (or Kashgar) built for oil executives but also handling a lot of tourists. In a quiet area not far from the old town.

Modern, in good repair with very pleasant staff with good English.

Our room was large, modern, comfortable and clean.

Breakfast was good and copious with a buffet or other dishes cooked to order. We didn't dine here as we wanted to sample some local restaurants of which there are some very good ones within easy walking distance.

  • Liked — The bedroom
  • Disliked — The leaking shower tray
