“1st time visit to royal oak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

The Royal Oak was recommended to me by a friend of mine who lives local to this restaurant, myself, my partner and our 3 chridren aged between 7 and 13 arrived early evening, we were greeted by very friendly staff, we found a good choice of food to choose from, and a ok selection of beers on tap, the food was excellent and the service very good (considering it was quiet busy too).
To top it all off, it was very good value for money as the bill was a bit lower than i expected.
Very nice helpful staff and a good all round atmospher.
Enjoyed by all, 100% recommended, will visit again.
Many thanks to the staff in the back restaurant

“Absolutely superb!! Fantastic food & great atmosphere!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

I took my wife here for dinner and all I can say is, try it yourself! The staff were very accommodating and the food was excellent! There are plenty of local beers to choose from and the wine selection was also very good. It's a very cosy restaurant and you are made to feel at home as soon as you sit down. Each course was excellent and if you're up for it after a lovely steak, take a look at the sweet menu, we just couldn't resist!! After eating in plenty of pubs over the years, this is definitely one that I would recommend to anyone without hesitation!! Great food, great drinks, great service and very reasonable prices!!

“Great Night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

A group of us ,12 in total , had a great night here on Friday 15th March 2013 . We had a table in the restaurant where we served excellent food . The restaurant was very clean and decorated to a high standard . The service was friendly and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff .We had drinks in the bar after our meal , which had a good pub atmosphere and all of our group said they are looking forward to returning to this establishment . Thanks to everyone at The Royal Oak and see you again soon .

“Royal Oak”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Had dinner here with group of friends on Friday 15/3. There was about 15 of us at a table in restaurant at back of pub. There was one other large table of guys so not full to capacity. Service was pretty slow and some of the food was terrible. We were there for over 3 hours and had 2 drinks, the service was so slow. The time between courses was not acceptable and the quality of the steak pie was terrible. It looked and tasted like it had been cooking for hours and hours. To give them credit, they did discount the bill when we complained and removed one round of drinks from the bill but I wouldn't be recommending them for food to anyone soon.

“Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We had a good meal here, the place has been improved with the addition of a door to close off the main pub. My large piece of salmon came with a sauce and a really big selection of fresh veg whilst my hubby had red thai curry with all the trimmings and we couldn't finish all the food. Free bread basket while we were reading the menu too. Very, very good value, tasty real food. Will be back soon
