“Lovely place to visit - not too touristy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We spent a lovely day wandering through the small lanes of Lagrasse, visiting Brocante and art shops. We tried a local restaurant for lunch but service was very slow so we abandoned ship and bought a lovely quiche from the local Boulangerie and had lunch by the river instead. We spent the afternoon swimming in the river - just fabulous. What a lovely place - we would definately come back.

“Lovely place, very pretty.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

The Abbaye was within a pretty village and next to a river with a small beach where you could take a dip. Tree lined 'high street' with reasonably priced sandwich shop and a number of bars.

“Lagrasse, "One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Lagrasse and its ancient abbaye are not far from Carcassonne, the most intact medieval town, and Narbonne, ancient port to both Greeks and Romans. Situated only 40 km from the Mediteranean and scarcely over an hour from the border with Spain, this charming village is one of the secret places in France that are waiting for your discovery. With many charming "gites" (B&B without the Breakfast), several very good restaurants and an abundance of great wine-makers, It is worth your while to spend a week here to not only get the flavor of the area, but also to use it as a jumping off spot to visit the famed Cathar Castles as well as Carcassonne, Narbonne, Perpignan and especially Collioure. The latter is one of the most beautiful villages, made up by 4 coved beaches with the 12th century fortress/castle built by the kings of Mallorca smack dab in the center. Go to the official website to chose from one of the many choices of places to stay - from 30 Euros / night to 1000 Euros per week.

“Friendly village of Lagrasse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

Picturesque village, excellent lunch and friendly locals gave us directions to Abbaye de Fauntcaude, but we were on a time schedule and the Lagrasse Abbey and the village shops were closed until two and we couldn't wait around.
