The restaurant recently changed ownership since 15th May 2103 and as it is only 6 miles from where we live we thought we would give it a try.
It is situated on the edge of a big lake or etang as most are known as in France. In the summer months is ideal for swimming as there are lifeguards. There is a large outside area under trees or umbrellas so it is pleasant to sit, eat and enjoy the views over the etang.
We chose the menu du jour at €13. It consisted of a choice of two starters, a main course and a choice of two desserts, coffee was included, but not wine. 50Cl cost €5.
We enjoyed our meal, it was well presented with a little 'amuse bouche' to start off with. Despite the fact they were very busy service was good. The lady owner Jennifer, apologized to us saying due to everyone arriving more of less at once, the meal would be a bit slower than usual. This suited us fine as we were not in a hurry. Having said that the wait between courses was not very long, and it is much nicer to be able to let ones previous course settle before starting the next.
It must be remembered that a menu du jour is exactly what it says and is freshly prepared each day so a limited amount of menus are available also usually only Monday to Friday. If not available, there is also an a la carte menu available which obviously is more expensive.
Having eaten there we recommended the restaurant to a couple of our campers who being restaurateurs themselves told us that they had the a la carte menu and found it really good.
Having had our meal we then walked around the etang which is a shady 3km or so easy walk. There is a small do it yourself ferry across the top of the etang. See the attached photos.
Good to work up an appetite or work off the meal afterwards - or both!!
We will definitely be visiting again, if only for a cold beer after walking round the etang!
