We went to Ayoush with another couple, using TravelZoo vouchers. The vouchers covered a cocktail each, and a 12 dish mezze. The mezze was of starters only, and was very limited in portion size - for example, one small basket of pitta bread was provided, and it was not even 4 full pitta breads (the breads were cut in half, and we each didn't get 2 pieces, and no re-fill was offered). Following the cocktails and mezze, we also ordered further cocktails, and two mixed grills, and two desserts, plus hot drinks. For the amount of food in the additional dishes we ordered, it was not good value for the price we paid. Some of the food was nice, and some was pretty underwhelming - for the dishes we sampled, we have had better elsewhere. Service, although friendly, was not great, as they had only 2 servers we could see, and there were far too many tables for two people to handle on their own. There was also a hen party of about 16-20 people, which should have had its own dedicated server. The atmosphere was not relaxed as a result, as people were waiting for things to be served, and having to chase up the servers, etc. The belly dancing performance was interesting to watch (once though, not twice, in half an hour), but would have been better not two inches from the table - we actually had to shift our hot drinks and desserts to the far end of the table, to avoid them being swept onto the floor or our laps by the swirling veil! It is actually quite uncomfortable to have someone performing that close, and would have been enjoyed by us far more if we could have watched with some distance - perhaps the dancer could perform in an open space on the two different levels of the restaurant, rather than performing table-to-table? All in all, it was an expensive evening, and we didn't enjoy ourselves as we'd hoped, and we won't make a return visit.
