“2 perfect weeks of skiing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2008

We have spent 2 grand weeks skiing in February 2008! The Hotel is just marvellous. You are welcomed as though you belong! You leave as a friend and will return as soon as possible. We will return there in February 2009!
Located a little off the usually skiing route in St. Cyprian, this hotel is a jewel! The rooms are large, the view is unsurpassed and the service could not be better. The swimming-pool and sauna are grand! After a day skiing relaxing in this area is just one of the things that make a skiing trip perfect. Not to say that the food is just perfect, all fresh and natural - just as the Alto Adige region promises!!
It's true that it takes some driving to reach either the skiing area at the Seiser Alm or the other direction Latemar, Fassa, Carezza, Cortina d'Ampezzo etc. But all these areas can be covered by the Skipass Dolomiti Superski.
So - Up and away and visit the Patissenhof!!

  • Liked — The family-owned atmosphere and the great food and wine as well as the spa area.
  • Disliked — No internet access available at all. The next internet point is in the small village at a bank.

If you love the Dolomiti, or heard about them and wish to see them youself, here's a great place, for sure...

Located in the Southern Tyrol, which means in Italy but "actually" in the Southern Germany (which is sometimes better, believe me - Italian guy writing!), this is a family-run hotel where you can breathe a really familiar atmosphere, be delighted by the breathless view of the mountains, and... hike!

Tiers (Tires is the Italian name) is a small village in a narrow valley near Bolzano, the Southern Tyrol main town (worth a visit). The hotel is actually in the St. Cipriano village, part of Tiers but a bit more towards the Rosengarten.

You can arrive here by car or train+bus, but once here the advise is just... walk! A lot of trails to/from/through beautful locations (Tiers is at the bounday of an amazing Natural Park, the Sciliar-Rosengarten-Latemar one) are just one step from the hotel.

The hotel itself has its best in the view, the hospitality and care for your needs, the food, the "real mountain" atmosphere and style. It has two building shaped and furnished in the typical Tyrol fashion; we had our room in the newer one, and it was a very nice one, comfortable, wide, very clean and with a beautiful view over the Rosengarten (inquire about that, because a small number of rooms have not the same view).

The pool and wellness zone are located in the main (older) house, as the restaurant is, but it's 1 minute walking, outside or even through a tunnel built among the two buildings.

Overall experience: great, you just don't have to look for "urban luxury" and... have to be lucky with the weather! If you meet both, you'll enjoy a unique experience even only looking though the window!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Holiday among friends - you will feel at home from the very beginning here with us in Rosengarten, in the South Tyrolean Dolomites! We are dedicated hosts! Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Tiers Valley, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the South Tyrolean Dolomites, you find our little Hotel Pattissenhof. The traditional hotel was first documented in 1461 and has now been in the hands of the Robatscher family for five generations. Hospitality, warmheartedness and comfort are all important qualities at this 3-star hotel. We, your host family, believe an exceptional holiday requires exceptional cuisine. Your culinary programme begins in the morning with our varied buffet breakfast and is rounded off by our lovingly prepared four-course evening meal. At Hotel Pattissenhof we use products from our own farm to create a range of culinary delights which are served with fine wines from South Tyrol. The highlight of your trip to the Tiers Valley will be the weekly barbecue evening in our cellar bar with live music. Your host, Gunther Robatscher, is a passionate musician and has even been known to get the most "danced-out" guest swaying along too! Are you looking for a wonderfully restful holiday, relaxing with your loved one or family? The spa area at 3-star Hotel Pattissenhof has everything you could want. After an exhausting day skiing or hiking you can sit back in our sauna and review the day's activities, or find peace and tranquility in our steam room... Our generously laid out indoor swimming pool is a special highlight for big and small! Then finish off by getting your circulation going again with a walk through our Kneipp pools. ... more   less
