“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Just got back from a week here! Travelled with my young son, he loved it! Entertainment staff were excellent with the kids and always made a point of saying hello and splashing in the pool with them. Room was really modern and very clean, didn't have a great view (car park) but we weren't that bothered as we spent most of our time at the pool. Food was ok, lots of fish dishes but plenty of choice. We were never hungry! Not a lot to do here apart from relax so not great if your looking for a wild party holiday but its perfect for a relaxing family break. We're thinking of going back next year!

Had a room overlooking the pool and the sea which was absolutely beautiful. The room was a bit dated but had everything needed including a full sized fridge, microwave, dining area and seating area. The room was spotless as was the bedding, which was changed regularly along with the towels. There was a good sized balcony with table and chairs and a clothes airer for drying washing. The bathroom was clean and even had a hairdryer.
We were here just at the start of the season and once or twice found it difficult to find a table in the dining area so I can't imagine how they manage high season.
Breakfast was good and varied with a choice of hot or cold food fresh juices and fruit, cereal, rolls, yogurt, toast etc.
Lunch was a good selection of fresh salads, fresh fish dishes and meat choices, something sweet and always fresh fruit. There was self service wine, beer, juice and soft drinks.
Dinner was similar to lunch again everything was fresh and tasty.
There was plenty of fish which is great if you are a fish lover, which I am not, but I never went hungry! My one suggestion would be a choice of cold meats maybe to go with the salads for non fish eaters.
The drinks on the all inclusive were great, especially the cocktail of the day.
The two outdoor pools were spotless and the ares really well kept.
The indoor pool was freezing but the jacuzzi was a real treat.
The entertainment team were enthusiastic but not push in any way.
There was entertainment every night at the outside bar but I would recommend mosquito spray as there were loads around at night and everyone was badly bitten!
The grounds were immaculately kept but there was a definite lack of signage to point you in the right direction, it was only by asking another guest we found the boat to the beach.
This is a must! The beach is stunning and the little boat ride fun!
The area of Cabanas De Tavira is unspoilt and there are a few little shops and bars. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel where you can get a bus to Tavira for just over two euros which is a bigger town with more bars and shops and is worth a visit. You can get a timetable from reception, check carefully as the bus stops for a few hours in the afternoon!
You can also rent bikes from the hotel or in the town.
The hotel could do with more lighting at night even little path markers as it was dark finding our way back from the bar.
All in all it was exactly what we had read, a perfect place to unwind. If you want clubs and night life this is not the place for you!

Travelled for a week mid-May with my parents, children and boyfriend. We got a good all inclusive deal online.
The hotel was much as expected in previous reviews, we were lucky enough to be allocated rooms in the new R block, which were lovely and very clean, however there was work still going on on the grounds around the block which meant we were awoken some mornings by workmen, but the paving and landscaping was dramatically improving the complex so we could live with this!
We didn't sleep particularly well as the mattresses are hard, and the apartment a little cool at times, although there was blankets in the wardrobe.
The highlights of this hotel for is was the lovely pool, the beautiful beach and the friendly entertainment team - special mention to Naymar, ChouChou, Picasso, Souma and Nahoul for being so eager and working so hard to keep the guests happy! They arranged daily activities such as Volleyball, Aerobics, games around the pool along with some excellent cabaret shows in the evenings. Also Miriam in the Kids Club is a lovely lady who kept the children occupied and entertained with good activities, she ensured a safe, fun environment.
The resort is in a picturesque area of Cabanas with the small harbour and promenade, ideal for taking a stroll along, and visiting the array of shops and cafes for souvenirs and gifts etc. There is a number of restaurants and a few bars, we had a night out at Quasi's which was lively enough.
The food was ok but did become repetitive and we ate out a few times to give some variety, but we didn't pay a fortune and definitely ate and drank our monies worth so cannot complain too much.
In summary we found the previous reviews of this hotel to be fairly accurate, there is a lot of guests from across Europe and it is not predominately a British resort, which we didn't mind at all, it adds to the experience. We were able to ride into Tavira on bikes to sample some local culture, and kept ourselves occupied yet had a relaxing time also.
We would probably return to this resort as the kids enjoyed it and we felt safe and comfortable, there is additional activities available locally and would like to explore further afield next time, possibly visiting the market in Loule on a Saturday, and Tavira beach which is apparently unspoilt and beautiful.
Take a hair dryer and iron if you will need one as not available in rooms, also mosquito spray and a few jackets as it does get cooler in the evenings. If partying all night is what your looking for this isn't the hotel for you, but for a chilled out relaxing break offering good value for money then give it a try :)

We arrived at faro at approximately ten thirty PM and had a transfer with the worlds fastest driver his ability to google and drive was scary. Sadly there was no late bar or vending machine. Our room was basic but clean and suited our needs and cleaned four times go our six day stay. We were in the main block above reception. Upon waking up our view was brilliant, over looking the fantastic pool. The food was good with variety and fish available for lunch and dinner, as most all inclusive hotels the food was served later we did not find this a problem as it was made into a different meal. The drinks were free flowing and daily cocktail enjoyed, soft drinks and hot drinks were available until the bars closed. The evening entertainment was bizarre. The water taxi to the beach is a must. The local area is very pleasant with shops and bars very nice for families and just adults alike. Tavira is a twenty minute bus journey costing four euro fourTy return. Again it was a lovely morning out bus timetable available from the hotel reception. The hotel is clean staff are friendly and food is ok. Ideal for a relaxing break if you want night clubs this is not for you. I would recommend this hotel. Return transfer was over fifty minutes late but travelling at one hundred and seventy kmh we got there in time.

I have just returned from an all-inclusive week with my boyfriend...we got a really great deal and my boyfriend just admitted he wasn't expecting much...but we were pleasantly surprised!

A week before I emailed asking for one of the modern apartments with a sea view (after reading someone on here who suggested doing so). We arrived to a fantastic, modern room in block L (302) with two single beds, a small kitchen area with a fridge freezer, hob, microwave etc, TV, air con and balcony with a drying rack for towels. It was cleaned every day which we weren't expecting too! Air con and TV remotes were at reception for a deposit of 10 euros which was fine. A Wifi code was also available and you could get Wifi in the reception area and pool bar which was handy.

We thought the food was really nice, and weren't quite sure where the negative reviews came from! There was always plenty of options for 'starters' at lunch and dinner and then a couple of different dishes for main, as well as pasta, chips and potatoes and a vast salad bar. Fresh fruit was available at every meal, beer, soft drinks, juice and water available at all meals and deserts too (a wee bit limited but a different flavour of angel delight every night and a cake type thing). There was also a snack between 4-5 but we only had it once as it was just biscuits and crisps and stuff. Drinks available on the all-inclusive were soft drinks, water, beer, wine, the 'cocktail of the day' (which I think was just alcohol + a fruit mixer, rather than one of the main cocktails) and tea, coffee etc as well as some spirits. This was perfect for us and we definitely took advantage of it!

As for things to do it's pretty limited. We are a young couple but were lucky enough to just want to relax and not party or explore much. We sat by the pool for about four of the days as it was so hot. The pool area was really nice, with the main pool being used by kids, young people and families and then the smaller by adults who wanted some peace and quiet. There was also an indoor pool but we didn't use that...pool area was always clean and tidy, plenty of sunbeds but that was probably because we were there just before the main season hit off. The beach is close by (accessed by a 2 minute boat ride) and is a really lovely stretch of sand. There were sunbeds and parasoles further down where the other boat for non-hotel tourists went across. Cabanas had a few shops, mostly tourist ones...a couple of cafes and restaurants but nothing special. There is a small supermarket but whenever we went it wasn't stocked very well. We walked to Tavira on one of the cooler days (someone said it was a 40 minute walk, it took us just over an hour, but we were walking REALLY slowly!). On the outskirts there was a large shopping centre with a big supermarket (you'll need it if you're going self-catering!) and some clothes shops. Then a couple of minutes further in was the traditional town with old houses, a castle, LOTS of cafes etc, quite pretty, but again, nothing much. Faro and Spain aren't far on the trains/buses but we decided to not bother.

Hotel staff did their best to get people into activities and entertainment during the day and there was entertainment in the evening but the mosquitos drove us back to the room before then (TAKE MOSQUITO SPRAY!). Also remember to take enough sun cream...we thought one bottle was enough but we were wrong and had to fork out 20 euros for another bottle in one of the local shops.

We honestly had a really fantastic time, got a great deal, got fantastic service, food and room and would definitely recommend it. I'm not sure where all the negative comments came from! Only thing is, perhaps it would get a wee bit over-crowded as the season heightens, so maybe it is one to remember for this time of year/Easter time!

Room Tip: Ask for Block L!
