“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We stayed for a week in June. The hotel is in a quiet location with a lovely pool and friendly and charming staff. A good base for visiting many attractions. The view of Etna from our balcony was stunning. There were guests from many countries which made it interesting and friendly.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with an Etna view.

Stayed last week and a half in May 2013. Sometimes when you go back to a place it's not as good as you remember - forget that - loved it as much or maybe even more! The place is an oasis in not the most pretty of towns. Don't let that put you off as an ideal base for touring the surrounding area. The hotel is small, quiet, clean, a beautiful pool and with a breath taking back drop of Etna. They are learning and have now improved the menu although still a bit limited as not changed weekly - 3 meat and 3 fish options. However, they are building a new restaurant and kitchen so expect even better next year. You will definitely need a car as nothing of note nearby.
But without doubt, the best thing about this lovely little place is the staff - they treat you as friends and can't do enough for you. We came last year and stayed during England v Italy match in Euro 2012 and they immediately remembered us and picked up with the banter we had then. Thanks to Luca, Marco, Joseph, Ellison and all for making it a fantastic stay and making my 50th birthday a memorable one - in the words of Arnie - I'll be back

Room Tip: Pool view get the sun in the mornin

This was our first visit to Sicily and I don't think we could of chosen a better place to stay. The staff couldn't do enough for you, the room was basic but it had everything we needed.
We used the hotel as a base to be able to visit the sights (you'll need a car), but also spent a number of days by the pool relaxing, which by the way was clean, big enough and quiet while we were there.
Breakfast was great, choice of breads, cold meats, cereals, cakes etc, but the evening menu was a little limited, however, was good quality. We ate out most nights and I'd like to recommend the Antichi Muri restaurant in Forza d'Agro for possibly the greatest pizzas in Italy!!

After spending a couple of nites here last year we decided this year to use Sogni as our base for this year. Very friendly helpful staff. Thankyou Luca, Marco, Joseph & Ellison. Rooms spacious & clean. (Dont know about tv channels as never switched it on) we had room 31 facing Etna which has the sun on balcony from afternoon thro to late evening, great for pre dinner drinks, large bathroom with a window as its a corner room. Pool always clean and very quiet, breakfast has a great choice of fruit, bread, ham, cheese, yoghurts, pastries and Orange Juice. Evening menu a little limited but we ate in every other night. They do a great Bruschetta it's not on the menu so you need to ask for it. You will need a car as nowhere is walkable. Definitely would recommend this hotel and would visit again.

I mean the reviews are really good and sometimes when you get to a place it doesn't meet your expectations. We stayed 6 nights and if we'd booked 3 weeks I'd have been happy. Food is simple basic but excellent much sourced locally. the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast was memorable. The fruit and veg was very fresh and didn't taste at all like our supermarket offerings.
Evening meals were as good as they were inexpensive.... and the wine. We drank the local house wine, a light refreshing red wine at 8 euros a litre with our meal. best wine I've drunk for a long time. Every meal was a delight. Service was excellent accommodation superb. We climbed Etna - 4 hours walking but well worth the effort. (lovely views of Etna from the hotel) Taormina is a must as is Bella Isola. Syracuse and Ortygia are worth the effort. We parked in the Levante car parks on Ortygia without too much of a problem. As for stress free driving in Sicily - forget it. The only advice I can give is choose a reputable rental agent, pay the euro or so it costs to use the motorways (though most are free) to avoid the traffic in built up areas, avoid spending too much time driving in the larger cities - particularly Palermo and Catania. That's one of the things I liked about La Terra dei Soigni, it was a haven of tranquility after the madness of Sicilian roads.

Just flown back from a 2 week stay here and missing it already! I have been warned off Sicily in the past and been told that Sicilians/Italians don't much like the British. How wrong was that information! Everyone we met without exception was helpful & friendly & couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome.
The staff at this hotel are just the best, we had transport problems because I wanted to hire an automatic car but we couldn't get one - I would suggest hiring one before you go - and Luca, Priscilla & Marco looked up bus & train timetables for us, found us places to go & gave us free lifts to the town to get the bus every day. The prices are reasonable & service exceptional. I only gave 4 stars for location as it's a problem if you don't have a car as there's nowhere near enough to walk to and 4 for the rooms as although they are really beautifully cleaned every day, they are quite basic & could do with a couple more English channels on the TV.
Menu was good but not that varied & I'm sure I heard that there was a pool barbecue night once a week which nobody seems to know anything about? Maybe it's in high season.

Breakfasts were the normal continental style with lots of choice & huge choc croissants, fresh pressed orange juice on the buffet from their own oranges. We were stuffed every morning.

I never saw any disgruntled guests and that says a lot. Everyone was happy. Great place at a great price, will be booking again next year but hiring a car before we go!!!!

We spent a week there and enjoyed every minute. It is exactly what it says in the ads. The staff are excellent, to the extent that Marco waited until 0130hrs to greet us. We being very late as the result of a delayed flight. The room was large, clean and nice. The pool area was lovely with a great view of Etna. Food is all Italian fare, which while nice, was a little limited for choice, an aspect which i was assured is in the process of being remedied, with the building of a new, large kitchen.
Food and drink prices are very reasonable. A really nice place.

Room Tip: They all seem equally nice, though rooms at the front of the hotel offer a view of Etna.
