“Fantastic sunset view seen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Bhuthanatha temple which dates back to Chalukyan era is situated in front of the Agasthya lake. Just before sunset, the temple and the surrounding hills assumes a reddish brown complexion and name Badami (brown) becomes evident.

“A serene break after the exhausting climb to Badami caves”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

We got a very enticing view of the large water tank and the temple on one side of it from the platform in front of the first Badami cave. Our guide was good enough to drop a hint that we could drive up pretty close to the tank. Taking his advice we followed the signs pointing to the archaelogical museum. The museum was closed by the time we reached, but we spent a serene and restful hour by the side of the tank on the steps leading to the temple as the sun slowly went down. Apparently not too many people know about the easy access, as very few of the tourists that throng the caves made their way to this temple.

The architecture of the temple is nothing very special, but the total effect of the large emeral water body, the temple, the steps all around the tank and the hills is quite impressive.

“Amazing temple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Every one visits Badami caves in Badami. And this temple, which is on the other side of the lake, can be seen from the caves. But many people do not go to this temple simply because the walk is long from the caves , or the other approach road to temple (which hardly involves any walk) passes through narrow lanes where only small cars can go. But this temple is an amazing temple and is a must visit place in Badami. So keep aside some time for this. You will be rewarded with a picture-perfect view. There are not many temples in India which look so beautiful.

Tips:
- There are 2 ways to go here. One is by walking around the lake (from the caves side). For the other way, you have to go back to city and then pass through some narrow lanes. The 2nd way involves less walking if you have a vehicle.
- Also visit the museum which is close to the parking area of this temple. It has an unbelievably beautiful double side arch right at the entrance. Worth visiting.
