We spent one week at Avithos Resort. A totally relaxing and enjoyable experience. Excellent, friendly team at the hotel. Good-sized pool that never felt over-crowded. A quiet resort that is ideal for couples and families. It's on the outskirts of the local village Svoronata and a short 5 min walk to one restaurant, or a further 10 mins to another on Avithos Beach. - Fantastic fresh food at the Avithos Beach Restaurant (Calamari starter!). For the week that we were there, we hired a car for three days (via the hotel reception) and it cost €90 in total. Recommend trips to Antisamos beach (where Capt Corelli was filmed), Myrtos beach (prob 2nd most famous and beautiful beach in Europe), Yia Efisimia (to hire a 20hp boat and travel up the eastern coastline stopping at private beaches along the way, €70 for the day). Also, Assos is a great trip and has a nice bay as well as seeing the turtles in Argostoli harbour between 9am and 12pm.

The hotel is family-run and nothing is too much trouble. They helped us plan our trips out and were more than happy to recommend good places to eat around the island - hence the detailed description above! They even offer a quick lift to a local restaurant and pick-up if necessary. Also, the hotel is only a 15mins (€15) taxi journey from the airport.

Overall, a relaxing, enjoyable and genuinely hospitable experience... Would return again!

Nikos runs this resort like clockwork the rooms are bright modern and spotless. The pool area is immaculate and surrounded by beautifully kept gardens full of colour. breakfast was lovely with a good choice of fresh food to suit everyone. This resort is for people who want to stay in high end accommodation in Kefalonia. All the staff are friendly and helpful from Christina on reception, to the bar and breakfast staff. It is everything you want to enjoy the island with the benefit of being in a quiet location so its easy to relax. 5 to 15 min walk to one of 6 restaurants, Avithos beach is a 10 min walk away the two restaurants with fantastic views of the beach. They were both excellent the lower one did a fantastic sea food platter and the upper one sells there own olive oil and own wine! both are fab . Nikos offered to pick us up after our meal if we rang his mobile. We only did this once and he was there in 5 mins. We asked about car hire and Nikos organised the car to be delivered and picked up. My only complaint would be we only went for a week!! Next time i will stay longer. This is a Gem on a very beautiful island. Christine from Scotland

The reviews didnt dissapoint in the slightest.
The hotel was spotless, the poolside was great, rooms were lovely and exactly what you need with lovely views over the mountain.
I would recommend phoning hotel to get one with nice view tho the ones overlooing the gardens seem equally as nice as the gardens were kept very well.
Nikos and his team couldnt do more for you, picking us up from restaurants locally as well as giving us lifts when they headed into the local town. Also going the extra mile and getting his own poker set so we could play by the pool ( good man ! :) ) made our holiday that extra bit fun!.
My only observation is poolside food could be better managed and presented with a bit more choice, as wasn't quite worth the price you pay for it.
However Nikos did make us cocktails one night which were very good indeed.
I would recommend going local supermarket to get things for lunch like meats cheeses etc, and get the breakfast included which is perfect for what you need with decent selection of hot and cold items

I would recommend a car for sure, we werent sure at the start of the holiday but we got a jeep for 2 days near the end for 80 euros and was perfect to go explore the island and its best features.
Costs 15 euros from airport to hotel very close indeed and wasnt once disturbed by any airplanes, lovely and peaceful ( apart from a loud italian family- but it was there half term and it was more down to the parents not keeping check on their kids, but as they went on day trips most of the time it didnt spoil the peace of the pool apart from in the evening a little bit).

Would recommend for couples young and old!. Would recommend george's bar down the road! awesome cocktails for 6 euros and hes so friendly and even dropped us off back at hotel after! The local restaurants are lovely and Nikos and his team can recommend which ones for which style you want.

Will definately go back to this beautiful peaceful island, and couldnt have enjoyed our hotel and holiday more

Big thanks to Nikos and the team!

Ben and Charlotte

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking mountains are blissful.

I've just returned from yet another stay at the Avithos resort, and it gets better and better every time I visit. New poolside furniture, beautiful gardens, spotlessly clean swimming pool and Nikos and his friendly team (the cleaners, the pool bar staff and the reception staff) all go out of their way and 'go the extra mile' to ensure that your stay is perfect in every way. Thank you, i can't wait to return.

Another huge thumbs up for this lovely resort! Husband and I were both burned out from working parenthood and a break here did us no end of good :)

The Rooms
We stayed in a maisonette which was perfect for my husband, myself and our toddler. The double bed was huge (and I mean huge!) and comfortable and the whole family slept really well. We had a bath in ours which was very handy with a little one but the shower also had some oomph :). Might be of interest to other parents to know that windows had blackout curtains and that with windows shut (or even without) there was hardly any noise. As others have mentioned, housekeeping was spotless.

The Pool
The pool was beautiful - always spotless and with a separate children's pool - loved it.

The Location
The setting was a very peaceful countryside location.
I have to admit I did have a wobble about booking somewhere so close to the airport but I only ever noticed about 2 planes in the whole time we were there. It made for a hugely convenient location and mean that we touched down and were sitting on loungers by the pool within a couple of hours and no stress about a long transfer prior to the flight back.
I'd recommend a car, especially as at only 25 Euros a day it was good value. Kefalonia is a big island with lots to see. If you did just want to chill locally though the Avithos beach was small but very pleasant and the taverna (Avithos Preview) there was fantastic.
A bit further away at Lassi there were bigger sandy beaches with lots of facilities.

The rest of the island
Beautiful green and mountainous island. Some jaw-dropping views including the beach at Myrtos - wow - and pretty much the whole coastal road north. Fiskardo was pleasant enough but it was Assos that stole our hearts. The Melisani cave lake was worth a visit, especially when combined with a visit to nearby Antisamos beach.

Eating Out
Eating out was really laid-back and it's so nice to go to a country where small children are welcomed (rather than tolerated!). A particular favourite was Avithos Preview (loved the Grandma Rosa salad and dolmadas were the best I've ever had. The Robola wine (their own) was lovely. Platanos in Assos was extremely popular for good reason - their aubergine dip and pitta and suckling pig are going to live in my culinary memory for a long time!

Customer Service
What can I say? We've never been so well-treated in a hotel ever. Nikos and Christina out a huge amount of themselves into the resort and were incredibly warm and kind people.

I hope we get to return to this lovely place at some point!

Room Tip: Maisonettes were lovely - loads of space and two balconies.
