5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012 via mobile

After being stopped for no reason im aware at the border of NY/Quebec and having to endure the JERK going thru inch by inch of our car... Omg!! We were far too late to drive much. In the middle of nowhere!! There is this Best Western. Staff was Wonderful!! So kind and helpful!! Place was CLEAN, ATTRACTIVE and COMFORTABLE. Really really nice!! And SO Reasonable!! 2 thumbs up. :) only thing could be nicer would be to light the fireplaces.

We stayed here on our trip back from New Hampshire to Ontario. It's very close to the border. We had a king size bed and the room was great. We had dinner there that night and the waitress was super - food was so tasty. Breakfast the next morning we expected it to be buffet breakfast but you sat down and the waitress brought platters of scrambled eggs, toast, juice, yogurt, cheese and fruit. Very impressed! Merci beaucoup!

We stayed at this hotel for one night as we had business in the area. We arrived just expecting a place to rest our heads for the night and left absolutely delighted with our experience. The hotel looks brand new - everything sparkling, clean and well kept. We had a nice room with a king sized bed, small mini fridge, free wifi, everything that we could need. The public areas with comfortable seating looked very nice although we did not have time to use these facilities. There was also an out door swimming pool.

We had an excellent sparerib dinner in the bistro and enjoyed a very nice bottle of wine that was very reasonably priced - another great surprise. At breakfast, the surprises continued as we found that a "continental breakfast" was included with our room. I think of continental as some rolls or pastries, cereal, juice, etc. We were presented with a mound of steaming scrambled eggs (so much I could not finish mine), toast, fresh sliced fruit, muffins and coffee. Everything delicious and freshly prepared. all this for a room rate of $99!

We don't know if our travels will take us back to this area in the deep south of Quebec, near the US border, but if they do, we will know for certain where we would want to stay.

Took my 2 kids and sister here. Got the 2day 1 night safari pkg.
Loved the hotel, great restaurant, great breakfast and kids loved the pool.
I enjoyed the shopping in the hotel lobby.
Nice location so close to the parc safari and easy to find.

This was my second stay here in the past 12 months -- visiting locally for a sailplane event in St. Bernard de Lacolle. Hotel is very clean, rooms modern, staff friendly. Included cont breakfast is just fine. I have never dined at the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but several friends have and all have been disappointed. So, come for the nice little hotel with pool, have a decent breakfast and get caffeinated to your level of choosing and then go on with your day in Quebec. I'll certainly choose this hotel again when I'm in the area.

We lucked into booking at the Best Western in St. Bernard de Lacolle, Quebec. We are U.S. citizens who were traveling by car from Western New York State to Northwest Vermont in the region north of Burlington. It made sense to look for hotels on the day we traveled in the Adirondack region, anywhere from Albany through Lake George to Plattsburgh. But everything was sold out -- it was the height of the season -- or lacked the features we wanted.

So we sought a property just over the Canadian border, and the Best Western at St. Bernard de Lacolle fit the bill exactly. Attractive, locally owned (the owner was on site at breakfast time), locally managed, bilingual, and with all the luxury touches a moderately priced hotel the traveler should expect of a moderately priced hotel. The bed? Very comfortable.

It's just a mile north of the border crossing from I-87 (the Adirondack Northway) at Champlain, N.Y., into Autoroute 15 at St. Bernard de Lacolle. First exit off Autoroute 15, and situated right in the southeast quadrant of the exit.

The only glitch is easily avoided if you read on: The property has two buildings. The northern and smaller building bears the large "Best Western" brand sign. This northern building has a covered porte cochere for automobiles and a reception desk, but the desk is not staffed. The main building is the much larger southern building, which has "RECEPTION/OFFICE" signs that are not visible until you're already arrived at the building. It's a bit confusing for the traveler coming north from the hub-bub of the border crossing. Better signage would help northbound travelers find the main reception/office area immediately without confusion.

Breakfast was diversified and served in a large dining room that even includes an outdoor balcony. All in all, this property is highly recommended and worth the hassle of a border crossing for travelers who had intended to stay on the U.S. side.

As for the food, TERRIBLE. The continental breakfast was decent, but how do you screw up a waffle that you make yourself? As for the dinner meal, it was very pedestrian. The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing, however the food did not fit the room. The food was simple, flavorless and cold. My wife and kids were done their meal before I received my meal. The food tasted like it was pre-made, frozen and then cooked in the microwave. Apparently they have a chef. If this is true, he/she is the worst chef in Canada and has no passion for food.
