“Nice place,..but..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

The other cafés in the town were overflowing with queues so I had lunch at Laura's with a friend on Queens birthday Monday. I ordered the corn fritters with bacon. I was surprised that the fritters weren't home made. I was expecting a higher standard and at $17 I thought this quite pricey for what the meal comprised.I eat out regularly and didn't think this was value for money. Although the rest of the cabinet food looked good. The old photos are nice.. Laura's has a nice atmosphere, and decor, staff friendly and helpful but it's the quality of the food that brings people back.

“Wonderful Cafe in Main Street Highway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

A small Cafe right in the middle of Taihape, on the Main Nth/Sth highway. It might be small but it has a large range of home baked food. Choice of sitting inside at 4-6 person milk bar style tables or at several tables outside on the footpath. Outside can be noisy as there is a large traffic flow on the highway.

Inside there are lots of old photos depicting the history of Taihape.

The food we had was superb as was the coffee. The mussel pie was to die for.

Has a big breakfast selection plus a variety of sandwiches (toasted, hot, fresh gluten free bread). Plenty of other home baking items, if they have not got it seems they will make it on request.

Close to the best Cafe on the Main Highway that we have used with the food quality being the standout. Seems to be run by a owner operator.
