“PERFECT WEEKEND RETREAT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

My husband and I just returned from a glorious fall weekend in VT. Schoolhouse No. 10 is situated on a quiet country dirt road and far exceeded all expectations. The Schoolhouse looks deceivingly smaller online...it has an open floor plan, vaulted ceiling and a skylight in just about every room. Susan and Gilbert (property owners) were wonderful! They stocked the fridge with farm fresh eggs, butter, local bread, sausage and coffee. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub at night and taking a morning walk to one of the most gorgeous vistas in VT. The towels were fluffy, the bed in the White room was so comfortable and the shower had really good water pressure :) I prefer this property over a B&B anyday and we cant wait to return next year! We enjoyed an outstanding early anniversary dinner at The Gleanery in Putney. Top of the Hill Grill in Brattleboro is a must for lunch. They have seating outside and a heated room for when the weather gets chilly. The beef burnt ends sandwich was to die for!! Our second night we had dinner at The Whetstone Station in Brattleboro and had another phenomenal meal! The place was pretty busy when we arrived around 7:00 so we were opted to enjoy a beer on the roofdeck Bier Garten for the 45 min wait. The restaurant is situated right on the CT river and I really wish we had found it during the day. I'm sure the fall colors were even more beautiful on the river. We picked up a lot of goodies at the Brattleboro food CO OP. Very similar to Whole Foods but more local produce, etc. and the prices very reasonable. This was our first stay in VT outside of the Manchester area and I really wish we had more time to explore Brattleboro and the surrounding areas.

“Charm, comfort, amenities ... and beautiful Vermont countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This was my third stay at the Schoolhouse No. 10. I brought my adult daughter and her boyfriend for the holiday weekend. The eclectic antique furnishings made us feel immediately at home. The weather was hot but the Schoolhouse stayed pleasantly cool with A/C. Delicious breakfast makings with locally sourced organics. Shops and restaurants in Brattleboro about 15 minute drive away. We also took one of the many classes that Susan offers at her Otter Pond Bindery studio which is a short stroll away on the same property. I would return and use the house as a base for exploration of southern Vermont.
