“Early xmas lunch with mum and dad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2014

A very friendly atmosphere with tremendous food. Honey and parsnip soup just excellent, the roast turkey with roast potatoes and a huge yorkshire pudding, parsnips , stuffing and seasonal vegetables was just superb !!! With not really enough room for a dessert we all ordered of course, two spotted dicks and two choc puddings..... WOW. Eat here and just enjoy....

“Dinner with friends”

Good food and a bit of luxury. Nice to just have a couple of drinks and the food is good also. Parking can be a bit of a problem though.

“Delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2014

We visited The Ship at Ichenor for lunch on a Sunday. It was a warm, fine Autumn day and we sat outside to eat. There was plenty of choice on the menu, but we both opted for toad in the hole on mashed potatoes with seasonal veggies. Beautifully cooked toad, flavoursome sausages and REAL mash! Lovely selection of hot fresh veggies, my favourite part of a meal. Waitress was friendly and chatty. Lots of people were eating and drinking outside but it didn't feel crowded or noisy. A short walk to the waterside and a pleasant time watching the boats come and go. Easy parking in the village car park. Goof value for money too. Highly recommended.

“Worst food in memory”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2014

Cant remember having a worse meal in the last 10 years or so. Soup was probably from a tin, all watery, bread was stale - was confused as to whether it was toast or not. Others in our group had a sandwich - which the filling was defiantly a sandwich filler. We someone else in our group had chicken and mushroom pie, was fine actually - except the embarrassing little plate of vegetables - clearly microwaved, couldn't even bring myself to eat these.

Really nice place. Great location. It was pretty quiet and mid week. I assume it is better in busier times of year. Still no excuse to serve stale and out of date food just to clear the fridge. I have worked in a restaurant as a youth and I know the temptation not to waste food by the chef. But this was an embarrassment.
