“Good Hotel with affordable tariff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

I made a pilgrimage to Guruvayoor Temple on 3rd and 4th May, 2014. I made A/c DBL room at Hotel Sree Gokulam Sabari. The hotel is near to almost all important places in and around Guruvayoor. The room is good and provided with all basic amenities. Complimentary tea/coffee/milk powders and a percolator were provided. Toiletries are to bear minimum. Only two wash soaps, a sachet of shampoo were provided but no tooth paste. Also no provision for draining personal effects. The staff were courteous and were helpful. They replaced the tube light upon our request. Mr. Sandeep and his team and even the security staff deserves special kudos. Hotel has got a vegetarian restaurant that provides average vegetarian food at affordable rate.

In sum a good affordable hotel with lot of scope for improvement.

We travelled in Last February 2013 for a darsan at the temple.
Reached Guruvayur by around 1030pm by a passenger train.
Once you walk out of the road from railway station, you reach the outer ring road and
the hotel was hardly half a km.It has a very good parking space.Helping staff who directed me over phone how to reach there by walking. The rooms were kept very well and clean linen and blankets were provided.Comes well within budget and the location is excellent. They have palmphlets in the room which clearly mentions the darsan timings.Another thing i liked about this hotel was there is a shortcut to the temple from this hotel. If you tell the staff that you want to go for darsan they will show it it to you.Only problem I noticed was the bathroom fittings were a little bit old and needed repair.

This Hotel ( one of the two under the same management in the town) is tucked away and yet within walking distance to the Temple. The walk is less than 10 minutes and that is a relief when one returns from the Temple visit!

For those (like me) who desire to take the 2:30AM "darshan" of the Lord the short distance is alluring !

Besides the service is quite good and adequate for a sub Rs 1000 category. It is perhaps because of the temple environs, but I found all are around courtesy and helpful attitude.
The management has another property on the South side which is even more closer. It is a bit upmarket I am told. Well I am on a temple visit with a comfortable stay and not on a ego trip!

Room Tip: If you are coming in by bus , it is worth taking an Auto for the first time - Flat rate of Rs 20 fro...

The hotel is positioned well within 5mins walk from Guruvayoor temple.
The rooms are clean and they are mantained well, the room service is good.
The food is Veg and the service was fast, Try the poori bhaji for breakfast they are good, i found the mushroom pepper fry was well done, the staff are well groomed and helpful, the resturant is in the ground floor and well kept.

Tips:
(1) To reach Guruyaoor temple you can take the side road next to the resturent its @5min walking distance..its a short cut.
(2) To reach Mammayoor Temple you can take an Auto they charge you 20Rs (which is the minimum fare).
(3) The Station and the bus Stand is also reachable via Auto (@20Rs).
(4) You need to wear a Lungi/Mundu to enter temples here so do carry one, if you are not having it you can always buy it from the local shop (@180-200 Rs).
(5) For Ladies no Chudidars / Pants/ Skirts allowed in the teample, please were Saris.
(6) For Mammayoor Temple do not carry flowers, there are some specific flowers which is accepted here and i could not understand which one where those, definatly not the one sold outside the temple, if you do carry you will have to offer this to NANDI...so keep a note.

Room Tip: Take the rooms at the top. (4th Floor)

VERY CLOSE TO THE TEMPLe. Neat rooms and excellent food served in the restaurant below. Good family crowd who stay to visit the temple and hence the ambience was very nice. The restaurant customises food as per our taste and that is truly commendable. THank you for taking good care of us during our two day stay.

Room Tip: Good ambience and peaceful. All rooms appear nice
