Yes this place has a nice location and yes it is decorated well but that's where the compliments end. My wife and I went for happy hour drinks, sunset and dinner. The drinks menu is extensive but the quality of the drinks themselves is sadly lacking. The food menu is much the same, on paper it sounds and reads amazingly but it's execution is bland and not worth the additional cost. My wife did have a nice pasta dish but her entree dish portion cost as much as a full meal anywhere else on the island.
The beach club lacks atmosphere as the music playing is not atmosphere inspiring and on the night we went the place was overrun with kids.
Tim the manager was dismissive at best and our overall level of service was terrible.
Having asked for two entrees we were still asking after them 45mins later and was told they would be along soon.
When they did arrive my wife's calamari smelt far from fresh and when she asked a waiter over he proceeded to poke each piece on her plate with his finger. Tim was then called over and he took one from the plate, tasted in and then said, "this is how it is in Bali" (Tim is a westerner too) - he then asked my wife if she wanted to finish the plate!! - after the waiter had poked all the pieces - err no thanks.
We asked for our bill and was not at all shocked to see that they tried to charge us full price for the "happy hour 2for1" I had to argue with the waitress to have this removed. Finally we left. As we were walking out we heard another couple moaning that they had been waiting over an hour for their meal....seems to be the norm at The Beach Club.
Personally I was very let down by Tim's conduct. He did nothing to attempt to rectify the general careless attitude of the staff, run the place with any conviction or provide guests with an avenue for recourse.
In short, stick to places like The Deck or the like on the other side of the island as at least they know the value of customer service.
