“Close to train station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2009

Very close to train station, we spent a long time finding this, the address is a little hard to find when looking for street signs, the hotel is located on corner of Rue de l'Argonne and Fonsnylaan. Not the best area if your staying alone. Basic rooms, ok as we only were there for a night.

This hotel is for a short stay its rooms were small and the lift small the bathrooms were clean and a reasonable brekfast.Close to train station for Eurail trvellers. Staff friendly Recycled furniture from a larger luxury hotel is squeezed in to the room looks out of place

The area outside the station is pretty dubious, and the station and pretty much a lot of places in Brussels smell like pee, which is pretty disgusting.

The rooms are small, but I've seen smaller. Pretty stuffy, even though we tried to keep the window open. Reception was friendly, which kind of made up for the basic room. Towels were provided and changed every day, the trash was cleared as well and they gave us some soap and shampoo.

There were 2 toilets and 1 shower for the whole floor, which kind of made it difficult to estimate what time you wanted to shower. Bathroom was clean, though it was a bath tub so when it got clogged it got a bit gross.

Breakfast was alright, with 2 rolls and cheese or bread or nutella. There were 2 types of cereal, but how much can you expect for breakfast to be included in the price?

Overall it was an OK stay, very cheap, though I'm not sure I would want to stay there again.

I was here on a 2 day holiday to Brussels with one other person in a double room.
This hotel was easy to find and about 2 minute walk from Midi station. It was also approximately 10 minutes from the city centre by foot.
The service was friendly enough, nothing outstanding but for budget accommodation it was acceptable.
Despite being in need of newer carpets and wallpaper, this was a clean and tidy hotel.
The room I had was very tidy. It was quite a small room for two adults and had a small double bed but was comfortable enough. It had a sink, wardrobes, bed side units and a TV. There was also a lift available for use.
This room faced the main road and being accross the road from the railway, could be quite noisy. The window was double glazed and this would block out all noise when closed. However due to it being quite hot, the window had to be left open for fresh air.
Therbreakfast was your typical continental breakfast (croissants, bread, ham, cheese, tea, coffee, OJ, yoghurts and jams) and was very nice. Everything was fresh and the staff were attentive.
The other thing I liked about this hotel was that you could leave your cases in a locked office on the ground floor for a few hours. This was free and it meant that I did not have to lug my case around for the 2 and half hours I had to kill before getting my train.
I can't think of anything negative to say about this place. It was perfect for budget accommodation. It wasn't fancy or updated but it had everything you needed for a short stay and was quite pleasant. I'm not sure that the staff could speak a lot of English, some were better than others. I can't comment on whether this was or would be an issue to others as I speak French but I would say that if you have any questions regarding the city itself, it might be best to visit the tourst information centre.

before we stayed here we read reviews online and were prepared for some really horrible place. however, we found a clean hotel. two minutes walk from the midi train station, 20 minutes stroll into the centre of the touristy part of town. the beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean, and the breakfast was more than we expected. also, the staff are very friendly and always want to help. i would definately recommend this hotel.

I was a member of a group of friends who visited Brussels for a EUFA Cup football game. I had booked this hotel via a booking website. I had requested and had confirmed by e-mail three twin mini suites with en suite facilities.
When we arrived we were told initially that the rooms were not ready. When eventually they were the rooms presented were not what had been requested. The small two bed room was very poor, the shower was dirty and did not work properly and the bedding ensured that you did not sleep under the covers.
The larger room had to be seen to be believed. There were two double beds and two single ones. The windows did not close properly and the traffic noise from the main road was almost overpowering. There was one television that worked and 12, yes twelve, that did not. There was a long table and two wardrobes that you would not want to put clothes into. The bedding was similar to the other room, the carpet was dirty and the bathroom very poor and grimy with no stopper plug for sink or bath. The mould around the shower taps a nice pale shade of green.
The main ceiling light fitting by the entrance door had dangerous wiring and looked ready to fall down at any time. The list goes on but there is only so much space and time available.
Suffice to say dodgy hotel in a dodgy area and avoid it like the plague.
You would be better to stay around Grand Place where you would feel much safer.

  • Liked — There was not one saving grace apart from the first young lady who greeted us on arrival.
  • Disliked — Where do I begin?
