“Simply marvellous!”

This guest house is an experience! It is almost impossible to describe the design of the more than commodious rooms in words. The passion for detail is also revealed by the wonderful breakfast. The extremely kind and helpful owners and the good location complete the extraordinary stay. There is only one problem: All following trips to Brussels will depend on the availability of rooms in the Maison AZ, because one will not be satisfied with an ordinary hotel after this stunning experience.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the room at the top of this modern B&B and it was beautiful. The architecture of the room has a lofted bathroom with an open tub in the center. The updated fixtures and rain shower head were wonderful additions and demonstrate the owners have taken care to present a modern, comfortable aesthetic to their customers. The living space contained a living area with comfortable seating, a small kitchen table, a comfortable bed, and all the amenities that you would find in a modern home. This was not like being in a hotel, it was like being in an apartment with everything provided. The view from the balcony upstairs is nice, and is a great place to have a cigar or morning coffee before breakfast. The Euro style breakfast was wonderful with fresh squeezed orange juice, delicious coffee, meats, and cheese. Convenient access to the metro and bus system is just down the street and puts you in Central Brussels in about 10 minutes. While neighborhood around the B&B is a bit rough, it should not detract from the charm, care and effort that the proprietors of this establishment have taken to make sure your stay in Brussels will be the best once you set foot inside.

We stayed at Maison AZ for six nights and a week later for a further four nights. The location and street is in a transition area between gritty and smart Brussels and is close to public transport or about a 30 minutes walk to Grand Place. It is close to cafes and restaurants and ones we found excellent were La Buvette and Resto Henri.

The hotel is behind heavy closed doors but as soon as you step through, you are in a private oasis that is welcoming, smart, clean, cared for by its operators (who live in what would have been the stables at the rear) and private. The rooms are decorated with artistic flair and are spacious and comfortable - and especially so for European hotels.

Our first stay was in the 'black and white' room facing the rear courtyard on level 2. Its 'artiness' in some respects took away a little from its comfort with smart chairs that were not comfortable to sit in and a central bath in the bathroom that made the space less than ideal - but these are pretty picky criticisms. The room was very quiet and the free wi-fi was readily available and fast enough.

Our second stay was in the 'orange' room at the rear of the first floor and for us it had all the attributes of the 'black and white' room but none of the minor drawbacks - the chairs were easy to sit in, the bathroom was well laid out and although the same size, it felt roomier / more open.

Breakfast was served in the ground floor drawing room, was 'continental' in style and for us was just right - fresh, tasty and nicely served.

The owners were most obliging and via text, made sure that they were on hand to greet us on first arrival. Otherwise, the return each day was like a return home with no unnecessary reception and easy access to the room; we felt like we were at home rather than in an hotel and without the owners being on top of us - just right.

We would stay here again without hesitation.

The host lady is very friendly. The room is very clean with special theme and color. The one we stayed is in green color. The lobby and dining room keep the original decoration and clean as well. it is 5 mins walk to the metro station, very convenience but as it is a bit quiet in the nighttime.

This was a terrific interlude for 2 nites before flying back to US - everything was done just right!
The owners are on-site, which is very much appreciated when there is any kind of a problem -
the worst bing when my smoke alarm battery died - not in the middle of the night fortunately; it is a very tall ceiling! One of my all-time favorite places for comfort, space, breakfast, convenience, and extra-attentive hospitality. Lovely B&B with both old world and modern
charm. sg. atlanta

Room Tip: The teal and white room is fantastic!

It was one of the best hotels i ever stayed in!! Room very spacious with bathroom and shower facilities. Our room was the green one overlooking the internal yard but with a view at the same time since we were on the third floor! Breakfast...simply delicious, croissants, baguette, yoghurt, cereal, marmalades, fruit, orange juice, coffee or tea!! The whole place was kept immaculate clean.
The position of the hotel is very central, 2 minutes away from metro stop, quiet area but felt safe at the same time.
Owners of the Maison are very nice and were helpful in whatever information we needed.
It was a very positive experience and if i would return to Brussels i would definately stay at Maison AZ again...and of course will recommend it to everyone!!
