“AMAZING!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

The highlight of our trip to Australia! Secluded and very welcoming, from the moment you arrive you feel right at home. Lots of special touches along the way: fresh cake and tea in the afternoon, guided hike with the owner on the grounds to see the animals in the wild, guided night hike with the owner to see glow worms, excellent home-made dinner and breakfast, waking up early to see kangaroos right outside our patio. It is a bit pricy but you know the funds are going towards great research causes so very much worth it.

This is a fabulous place with great food and service. Lizzie and Shayne are so knowledgeable and passionate, it is really inspiring. We were surrounded by wildlife. We had breakfast with kangaroos grazing right in front of the window. We went on two dusk walks with Shayne, we got up close to koalas, wallabies and tiger quolls, and fed sugar gliders. We wish we had stayed there longer and would love to go back.

Room Tip: Try to get a front-facing room, especially on the ground floor.

I've not much to add to previous reviewers and admit to being slightly on the side of not letting anyone know about this lovely place to stay. My daughter booked it and I was glad that she did! I really enjoyed the effort that the owners put in to make us feel welcome and part of the family of guests. We had a lovely evening meal (a good idea to book that if you don't want to drive in the evening) and a great breakfast. We loved our tour of the grounds and hearing about the various animals. It reminded me of the kind of fun we'd had staying in a ski chalet, good to be around other people who share the same interests. I'd rate in unmissable and I hope to get back there one day for much more than one night!

Room Tip: Our upstairs room was fine.

I started not to write a review, because the reviewers to date have said it all. But I do so to assure those considering the ecolodge that there is no hyperbole in the reviews and, sadly, to report that the photos simply can't capture the magic of this place. It is, however, the guest-friendly sevice that sets the ecolodge apart. The work being done by these people is important. I particularly appreciated their willingness to share their passion, while at the same time providing a bit of luxury and wonderful service. As a rather simple example, we showed up a few hours before check-in time. Yet we were greeted warmly by Lizzie and offered a proper tea while we waited for our room. While our stay was brief, the ecolodge was the highlight of our trip to Australia.

This place is incredible. We stayed for one night in December as part of our tour along the great ocean road.
We were so well looked after, the nature tour (from Shayne) was great, it was the first time i had visited Oz and it was great to see so much wildlife in their natural habitat. Dinner was delicious and whilst we were eating the kangaroo’s came to graze just metres from us.
The whole place is very homely - our room was lovely and clean with great views. It was the perfect place to spend our first night in Australia and i would love to go back there one day!

My partner and I stayed at the Ecolodge for 2 nights during our Auswalk hike of the Great Ocean Road. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

The staff were unbelievable. Shane was a fantastic host & showed us around their lovely property and taught us a lot about animals & nature. We went for a 2 hour walk with him and saw kangaroos, koalas and spotted quolls. But you don't need to leave the lodge to see kangaroos - they are everywhere.

Kylie, the chef, was very sweet & helpful even when she was busy doing several things at once. She always found time to answer our questions & help out. There is also a garden where some of the produce is used for our meals. The lunches she made us were healthy and delicious. Dinner was also lovely, although a bit small for our appetites after a day of camping.

Alan was the perfect host making sure all of his guests were happy.
You can tell that he just loves his job.

The rooms were basic but comfortable and we slept very well.
I would highly recommend a stay at the Ecolodge.

What a wonderful, peaceful back to nature break. Excellent hosts, Shayne & Lizzie, were welcoming and more than happy to impart their wealth of knowledge in all things flora & forna. Great, innovative food prepared by the lovely Kylie using their own produce. Kangaroos wandering past the windows-not something you see everyday. A fabulous retreat. Highly recommended.
