After parking in a nice large overfill car park field, ideal for picnics and games, one gets a really good view of the entire imposing front castle wall.. The walk up the short approach over the now dry moat and through the tower gate is just as a medieval castle should be. One could expect the mounted soildiers to appear at any time.
Inside the large castle the high complete walls are just as impressive. A circular stone staircase up a turret leads to the upper walls. Fantastic views of the town and surrounding countyside. One can walk round if not afraid of heights.
Inside the old workhouse there is a history of the castle and video. A nice interesting visit.
