“Ticks All The Boxes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

This was the second time we stayed at Sand Dunes Resort. Our first visit was back in January 2008 where we stayed for 10 nights. I have to say that the only thing that this resort has lost since then is the 'MANTRA' name (which in my opinion is not a loss at all).
Being a past guest we got a great deal. We stayed in a two bedroom luxury apartment for 10 nights from 11 to 21 December 2011 and we loved it. Everything about this resort is great, very modern and clean, the apartments are spacious, the pool is spectacular, the spa is very relaxing, staff are very helpful and happy to assist you with any enquiry that you may have, quiet location even though it is close to the airport and just a short walk to the beach.
We had a 1.30pm flight back to Melbourne so they even let us check out later than usual.
We have stayed in many places over the times but I have to say Sand Dunes Resort is the only one so far that ticks all the boxes for us.

The unit we stayed in was quite charming and in a great location for relaxing. It is a well appointed self-service villa with a fabulous rooftop spa. We were lucky enough to go during a meteor shower so we had a great view will sipping sparkling wine through the night. The unit was clean with the exception of a few dishes and some flatware. The size was great for us as there were 3 couples. The only downside is that the master bedroom is huge and the other rooms are quite small...so we had to flip for who got the good room. The couple that won the big room treated us all to a dinner in Mooloolaba so I think we all won out in the end.

The only downside was that the hotel is located a bit away from things so you will need a car. For nightlife and good restaurants I would suggest heading into Moorochydore or Mooloolaba or even Cotton Tree. You have a wider selection there. Also, the beach is great but not as protected as the beaches in Mooloolaba so we found the sea quite rough and windy compared to other areas on the Sunny Coast.

Overall I would reccommend this place and I hope we go back again sometime.

We are a family of 5 who stayed in a 3 bedroom beach house for 2 nights. Lovely beach house. Very modern and lovely and clean. Wonderful spa on rooftop. Kids loved the pool . Quick walk to the beach. Will stay again.

Room Tip: Beach houses offer more privacy than the swim up rooms

The staff at resort were very helpful and were happy to assist with any enquiry. Including late check out to accommodate children's midday sleeps. We stayed in a three bedroom beach house no 9 and the furniture and set up was great. Awesome pool, quiet location and stunning beach. Cocktails on the roof top in spa under stars is hard to leave behind aswell. We will be back early next year. Great family holiday thank u.

Good accommodation but a bit out of the way. Great for families, but would not recommend for a rest away from screaming kids...because they are everywhere.

Stayed in the 3bedroom beach house for 3nights. This house is amazing! There are 3bedrooms on the 2nd level, including the massive master suite with it's own bathroom, balcony, TV and spa. There are also 2 other bedrooms on this level & another big bathroom. The top level has a jacuzzi (would be better if it was under a shade sail) seating & a handy fridge. The lower level has another bathroom, double lock-up garage, laundry, huge kitchen (fully equipped) lounge room (variety of DVD's included), outdoor seating area (with shade) and a BBQ! This place truly has everything you could possibly need and would really only benefit from 2 things: rooftop jacuzzi shade & ocean views.

We stayed for 6 days at Sand Dunes and it was awesome. We were a party of six - Mom, Dad and two young kids plus a mid-twenties couple so the space in the unit was a major plus...we could all do our thing without tripping over each other and the couple didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn with the kids as they could be downstairs or out in the fenced yard. The unit was clean (a major point for me!) and had all the basics so we could cook meals, do laundry etc. Beach access was a stones throw and the pool(s) were beautiful. The complex itself is obviously well maintained and staff were friendly.

Room Tip: Bedding configuration can be adjusted - make sure you specify if you are getting a multi-bedroom uni...
