We booked at Atlantis Marcoola through a discount voucher, but on every dealing we had with the resort staff I cam away impressed by their friendliness, relaxed nature and willing to help. Nothing ever seemed like too much trouble and it's a refreshing change from chain-owned holiday apartments.
The weather wasn't the best (showery and windy) and beach was heavily eroded from recent bad weather, so we didn't get to take full advantage of the waterfront location, but between the huge pool (which was amazing for our young children & boiling hot spa (possibly a tad too warm?) plus a few day trips we were never short of activities. There were even a few things we wanted to do in our 5 night stay that we didn't get around to. We took a gaming console to keep the kids entertained during those rainy periods when mum & dad just wanted to veg out reading a book which was handy The only time we noticed the nearby airport was when we were in the pool and even then there only seemed to be 1-2 commercial flights in any period - the rest of the time it seemed to be light planes and helicopters.
The rooms themselves and neat and spacious, the kitchen we had was adequate, though ever-so-slightly dated (still good for the money though). Our two bedroom ocean-front apartment had an 2 bathrooms plus a decent balcony. beds were comfortable (especially for people who have a waterbed at home and usually loathe the though of sleeping on "normal" beds). The rooms have free internet, but we didn't end up using it much as the cable was too short to be used anywhere other than the small kitchen bench. I don't if you could bring a longer cable and plug it in, or you could do what we did and just tethered our mobiles and used our own connection (of course, this is only feasible if you're an Australian traveller or have an Australian SIM card, otherwise your data romaing charges would be huge I suspect).
One down side is the lack of nearby restaurants. There's a Chinese place across the road (which we didn't sample, not being a fan of "Australian Chinese" food), a Subway (blergh!) and a rather good bakery, so we found ourselves driving either cooking more than we foresaw, or driving to Peregian/Coolum/Maroochydore for dinner. Even a bistro or cafe located across the road should get enough business from the 5-6 apartments. But of course, that's not the fault of Atlantis Marcoola.
All in all, a great place to stay and suspect we'll return.
Go for an oceanfront room on at least the 3rd floor for a better view.
